Sky: Chelsea set high asking price for Lukaku as Milan enquire

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have held talks with Chelsea over a deal for Romelu Lukaku and they have learned that his asking price is quite high, a report claims.

According to Sky, contacts are continuing between the Milan management and the entourage of the Belgian striker, who was also a target one year ago when the club were pushing to find someone to alternate with Olivier Giroud.

Milan are pushing for a loan deal while Chelsea has announced the price of the 31-year-old: they want €40m and a permanent sale, and it is a figure that they do not intend to make any concessions on.

The report adds that that Napoli are also interested in Lukaku with Antonio Conte obviously having a great relationship with him, while Victor Osimhen is destined to leave and thus they could get the funds needed.

For the time being though there is no acceleration from the two Italian clubs, who in the meantime are following him at a distance at the European Championship. In the round of 16 Belgium will face France, so he will come up against Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan.

Last season Lukaku played 47 appearances for Roma across all competitions, scoring 13 in 32 in the league, seven in 13 Europa League games and once in two Coppa Italia matches.

    1. Dovbyk? Haven’t seen such a one-legged-striker since Bacca played for Milan. Based on the EUROs it’s hard to believe Dovbyk managed to score over 20 goals last season. He looks awful.

  1. Nah won’t happen

    1. Chelsea don’t want to loan because they don’t want to have a loss in books
    2. Milan won’t pay such money for 30+ player
    3. His salary is too big for Milan
    4. Conte has power and money in Napoli and he wants Lukaku, and Lukaku likes Conte
    5. There is probably a queue of Turkish and Saudi clubs for him if deal to Napoli won’t happen. He still has a recognizable name, and they just like that there

  2. He has one year left on contract so why would we loan him ?

The figure quoted is also his buy out clause so if Milan want him pay the fee

  3. No-one in Europe, outside of England, is paying 40m for him – they won’t get anything like that so they’ll have to take loan offers eventually, and they’ll try to insert a buy clause of ~20

  4. 40m euro for unwanted 31 years player. Not worth even 20m euro , he dont have resale value also asking 7,5m euro nett salary. Easy skip
