Sky: ‘Concrete talks’ – Abraham still in contention for Milan after Morata capture

By Ben Dixon -

Whilst AC Milan had clarity over their first-choice striker this summer, they now face a decision about his deputy, and a report from Germany suggests that talks are in place with Tammy Abraham.

After Joshua Zirkzee, it was Alvaro Morata, and there were no doubts about this, even if reports suggested the contrary. Questions are in place about the shift from the Dutchman to the Spaniard, given they are two separate profiles, in terms of football and age, but Milan made their choice with confidence.

It does not stop there on the forward line, though. Instead, there is a goal to add another striker to the mix, and questions are swirling about who that could be with Tammy Abraham and Niclas Fullkrug leading the race.

Recently, reports have suggested that the German striker is the preference for the Rossoneri, but a report from Sky Germany (via Milan News) has maybe contradicted those claims. The German branch reports that Abraham is one of ‘many options’. However, there have been the ‘first, concrete’ talks between the parties, and most importantly, they are ongoing.

It remains to be seen which choice will be preferred, but given the Abraham operation could be discounted through player exchanges, it could be a better value deal.

  1. What are the cost differences between Abraham and Fullkrug? I prefer Fullkrug’s profile and consistency over the past few years, but Abraham’s upside is undeniable. Though there also would seem to be substantial risk with Abraham.

  2. We’ve just signed Morata.

    We have Okafor.

A 16 year old has just won the Euros. Can we give our 16 year old a chance?

Signing Abraham will just block all 3.

It will disrupt Morata, finish off Okafor and block Camarda.

Can we please just sign a DM and be done.

And then focus on getting the squad down to 23-25.

Anyone who has no future needs to get sold and anyone with a future maybe loan but with an actual plan.

        1. What’s not sensible? Trimming the squad of 30+ players to 23-25?
Having one striker not two strikers replace one outgoing striker? Avoid disrupting the current subs (Okafor, Jovic and potentially Camarda) who WILL now get way less playing time?
Loan out players with potential so they can get minutes?
          Getting a DM?
Tell us, oh great guru, what’s not sensible here?

          1. Let’s see here…

            1. We have Okafor – not a 9. Doesn’t solve a problem.

            2. A 16 year old has just won the Euros – won’t see the first team for a while. Has to mature through the futuro.

            3. Signing Abraham will just block all 3.
It will disrupt Morata, finish off Okafor and block Camarda – while signing Abraham isn’t something I’m for, I do believe we need another Morata-type Senatorial 9. Brother Okafor not Jovic are it.

            4. Can we please just sign a DM and be done. And then focus on getting the squad down to 23-25.
            – A sole DM doesn’t solve a depth issue, only the starting DM position.
-Neither does it solve a regista spot if Bennacer leaves.
-Nor does it address bringing another CB in.

Address this issues then trim away…

I’m no guru, God helps us if I were. I just say sh|t that makes sense to me. You can quote me on that.

        2. Why can’t Okafor play CF?

Are you saying footballers can only play in one position?

The 16 year old who just won the senior Euros was Yamal.

But apparently Italy despite being far inferior to Spain can’t risk playing 16 year olds (or having squads of less than 30).

Every time we’re signed multiple strikers (or indeed players for one position) at least one of them have failed.

          You understand money is finite?

If we’re so flush with cash spend over 100m on the best DM on the planet.

‘Depth’ is a myth used to drive transfers. Again look at Spain. Their squad sizes are limited to 23-25.

But why would we want to emulate the European champions and serial Champions League winners.

Better still for Serie A to have another summer where we have twice as many transfers as La Liga, and wonder why moving players around like causal farm hands doesn’t lead them to their potential.

        3. I’m only saying this as what I perceive MH’s post as. He can clarify as needed

          1. Okafor had played as a CF before, matter of fact as many times as LW as he has at CF acc to Transfermarkt and games I saw him play as well. Has played it with us too. But u and MH also fail to mention we already have the sub n9 on Jovic. He and oka4 adds a different dimension to the attack.

          2. When ppl say give Camarda a chance, it doesn’t mean start him every other game but introduce him gradually and maybe during garbage minutes if we can. He’s gotten alot bigger than last I’ve seen him. 6ft, 180 lbs and bigger than Yamal. But bringing in another striker just make the very little time he would have gotten almost non existent. The great ones always start young.

          3. So you’re not for the signing of Abraham but u want another old striker?? We had only Giroud leave mind you. The minutes for Jovic and Okafor should increase as they’ll start the season fit (this was why Giroud had too many minutes). Further how are Okafor and Jovic “not it” when they’ve clearly done well last season with limited time?? Bringing in another striker just muddies everything and I believe that was the point. One of these guys will not be happy. It “blocks” Camarda as the pecking order gets bigger.

          4. Huh??? This point is not clear.
We need a DM, plain and simple. What depth issue are u talking about? The DM for which we have none? Then sure, yes. Otherwise wasn’t last year lauded for bringing “depth” to the team? I don’t mind two DMs tbh but at least one should come. On Bennacer, if it when that time comes (if any of those rumors are even true) then we’ll deal with that. Otherwise him and whoever is a new DM is a perfect start. Others can play regista incl fan fav Deers and that’s if we’re playing 433. Even in a 4231 Deers has been deployed ina similar function🤷‍♂️. We have 6 centre backs currently. Unless it’s a swap out, we actually dont need another CB. We also don’t need another striker or winger. Our squad is at 30 right now and that’s before Morata comes. So yea if anything one of those CBs needs to go lol 😂.
Which brings it to the last point that you agree with trimming but yet “nothing is sensible” in MH’s post??? Come on bro!?
You missed the loan out players and have a plan for their development, isn’t that not sensible too? Just don’t disagree for the sake of it now

        4. Maybe you should remind some people here that our Bigest rival Inter as 4 established strikers abd they also have a very good youth team with good young strikers, so we need a Morata, maybe Abraham with Jovic, there are more matches this season than last season.

    1. On the other side it would raise competition for the starting spot. Nothing wrong with healthy competition. And yes some players will get the short stick but that just means that they reached their peak and the other guy is/was better

      1. What are you talking about? Signing another proven striker instead of gambling on a winger or a 16-year-old will throw everything out the window! 🙂

        1. Sorry really struggling to take you seriously…

Anyway every time we’ve signed more than one striker in a summer it’s failed.

Think Bacca, Luiz Adriano and Balotelli.

          Think Silva and Kalinic.

          I know I know they weren’t ’quality’.
It had nothing to do with mismanagement.

As for Okafor he popped up with goals last season and doesn’t need to be pigeonholed as LW.

As for the 16 year old, he’s not your typical 16 year old now is he.

Show some faith in our existing players.

      2. Competition?

        Morata’s just won the Euros.

        Why does he need competition?

        Competition just means unnecessary disruption.

We need our first team players starting 40+ games next season to reach the levels of the other top teams. If we keep chopping changing and not making our minds up none of them will reach top levels.

This has been going on for over 20 years now.

We’ve signed at least one new striker every single season for 20 seasons and whenever we’ve signed more than one at a time it’s never worked out.

        1. just the fact you ask why does he need competition shows you dont understand this sport or just sport in genreal at all.
Works out, doesnt work out. You cant say anything about that. Might as well Morata gets an heavy injury in the first month and we be left fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccccccked.

          good day

          1. If Morata gets injured, what’s the point of Okafor and Jovic? Didn’t they show they were capable of scoring as subs or replacements? Who was Giroud’s competition last year? And isn’t this a planning issue? Why does Alvarez want to leave City…due to a lack of game time via Haaland. It’ll happen here too

          2. Idk. What is the point of them? Do we even need morata? Can’t jovic and okafor lead the line and we bring a 3rd ST?

Alvarez is a spoiled brat. He did over 3k minutes last season. He started 31 Premier games… also he knew perfectly well what he was getting into by signing with manC

          3. You get that to achieve perfection you need to do the same task repetitively as nausea?

That his what the top teams in Spain play like robots.

Why does a European and serial champion require competition?

            To stay motivated?

If he gets injured – well we’re not going to win anything.

But if he does get injured and we need to cope we have Okafor and a 16 year old actual wonder kid that has broken every record. If we can’t have faith in him to be a third choice forward behind a European champion and last season’s super sub, who do we have faith in?

Surely we should be looking to Spain, where squads are 23-25, and where they support youth players?

Or we could keep going with our massive squads and loan youth players out to death.

          4. What whining?

Interestingly with Shev and Inzaghi we played 2 upfront and had Tomasson as a the third striker who covered for both.

That’s a good example of that 3/2 or 2/1 combo that I keep mentioning that most tittle winning teams play with.

          5. you’re always whining… atm you’re whining that getting another ST is bad and whining competition brings disruption.

funny enough they played 103 games and have 13 goals to show from that blossom partnership.

Giroud nad Leao did 18 goals in 118 games for example, and their midfield support was nowhere near what shev-Inz had 20 years ago..

    2. Guess what…I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Although purely because he’s a left footer I’m not against swapping Pavlovic in for Thiaw.

      Morata, Fofana, Pavlovic in.

      Promote Zeroli.

Be prepared to lean on Sia, Camarda, Terracciano, Bartesaghi etc.

      Trim the fat.

      Renew those two big contracts.

      Job done.

Not an particularly instagram able summer, but an affective one.

      1. The idea behind Futuro is to prepare the young players for Serie A football. Simic and Bateshagi are ready, the others need more time.

        1. Zeroli and Terracciano do not need more time. We don’t have time with Camarda – a three year deal means by the end of this season he needs to be able to see his route into being a starter.

I’m sorry off this ruins your summer of bonanza deals and TikTok reveals

        2. Many don’t get that. They think the kids are ready to jump into the ring with a professional boxer just because they think they know how to fight.

    3. Histrionics again. Here we go again with the talks of disruption. If it was up to you, Krunic would still be playing here.

      Okafor is a winger.

      1. Krunic was our best midfielder last season and when he was frozen out our midfield collapsed, and that cost us the title.

Besides didn’t we sign 3 midfielders last summer and lo and behold we’re now looking for another midfielder.

Again – a scatter gun approach to one position and we’re left having to fix it again next year.

If we do sign Abraham or another striker we’ll be back looking for another striker next summer – our 21st season in a row signing a striker. And we’ll still be signing strikers whenever Camarda is ready to join the first team (in his mid-20s after 6 loans in 3 seasons).

    4. There are a lot of games to be played. You’re suggesting we go with Morata and Jovic/Oka neither of whom can play as a long striker ?

How will that go? We will overuse Morata and his form will dip to sh|+ and Camarda will never feature with the senior team yet because he’s busy with the futuro.

Tammy isn’t it, I’ll give you that. But we need another strong 9 alternative not named Jovic.

      1. I’m suggesting we get rid of Jovic too.

Okafor should play across the front three and aim for 20-30 starts.

The rest should be aiming for 40-50 starts.

Messi played 520 games in 17 seasons for Barca and played 60 club games one season.

        I know “It’s Messi”.

So did most of that Barca team and Chiellini and Bonucci who managed 219 appearances together.

This is how teams become competitive. Constantly hedging bets undermines the players.

  3. Tammy is a specific request by Fonseca. He is a younger profile and Roma not being in ucl are trying to offload players on high wages. They already reduced their wage bill by 30m. Pellegrini, Dybala and Tammy are their highest earners left.

He would be a smart signing, solid player who has had a few injuries but at a good age and profile to rediscover his form. i.e. similar to Pulisic. Given we wont be signing elite CF like Alvarez, Tammy is a good CF to give us 15-20 goals. He will also have good connection and chemistry with former Chelsea team mates Pulisic + Loftus Cheek.
