Sky: Fonseca’s position ‘will be evaluated’ after Liverpool and Inter games – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

It has not been the start to the season that Paulo Fonseca wanted as AC Milan head coach, and the three games that are immediately after the international break could determine his immediate future.

Milan drew 2-2 with Lazio away from home last night which is not a terrible result in isolation, but it followed a 2-1 defeat in Parma and a 2-2 draw against Torino, meaning two points from three games to begin the new era.

Sky report that Milan’s priority now is to use the break to calm things down, because when the games resume there will be a huge trio of games at San Siro with Venezia, Liverpool and Inter all within a week.

After those three games ‘Fonseca’s position will be evaluated’, even if at the moment there is ‘no desire or intention to change coach’. There will not be any knee-jerk reaction from the management after the difficult first 270 minutes, therefore.

There were parallels drawn between Fonseca’s start and that of Marco Giampaolo after the first game against Torino. The Portuguese will hope that that’s where the comparisons end, given that the Italian ended up lasting just 111 days in charge, which shows that results are the most important thing.

        1. Exactly. One of those clowns should come out to speak. Ease the fans and the players. Instead they are all hiding, just like the end of the last season. Worst managers in the history of modern football petiod.

    1. Wise management and owner need long time to decide best coach for milan, the great fonseca. They will need a longer time to evaluate fonseca, maybe in november the decision will be out.

  1. I have fear thay will trust him to long…or if they fired him after 5th round what can be still good for saving this season, who came? Abate? Or who? When they don’t want to pay more then 2m€ per year to coach

    1. Who told you they don’t want to pay more than €2 million? They didn’t see any outstanding candidates, that’s why they went with Fonseca.

      1. Wow no outstanding coaches.. sure the outstanding Fonseca is doing wonders compared to the not outstanding ones – de Zerbi , Motta, Hansi Flick. I just hope Klopp has a change of heart and comes to save us next season

  2. The question is would you rather have him for a month or 2 years I would rather have him for a month, and take sergio conceicao who has actually shown he has what it takes to win

  3. Because everything’s about money. And that’s okay, because we all want healthy club with right movement. But when Pioli has 3m€ per year and they rather sign Fonseca with 2m€ per year then De Zerbi, Tuchel, even Poschetino or Alegri with their experience are better options, but they want more money (alegri somewhere around 5/6m… Tuchel around 9 in Chelsea.. )
With Fonseca it was gamble… all or nothing and for now it looks like nothing…
But yes we still need to have hope for better results 😀😀

  4. Heading into ties against Liverpool and Inter NEEDING results when we couldn’t beat Lazio, Parma and Torino is a bad omen for Fonseca.

    Might as well contact replacements.

I heard we are still paying Pioli? Would be ironic to bring him back in to steady the ship once again. What a way that would be for Furlani and Ibra to accept a bit “L”.

  5. Fire the mediocre bum who didn’t study tape therefore doesn’t know his players; kept Terracciano in for 90 minutes, sat the team’s two best players for some stupid revenge that only made us drop two points, and has alienated the players.

Conceição is still available; he is much better than Fonseca.

  6. If Fonseca is sacked, first and foremost we need a manager who can organize the team defensively and command the locker room/rally the troops. Tuchel and Terzic are really interesting options, but I’m not sure if they bring the extra defensive solidity we need to rebuild our foundation. There is also Conceicao. Xavi IMHO is not what we need at the moment. Klopp will be out of reach.

  7. Sacked this mediocre d*mbass before Liverpool and Inter slaughter us. Heck, i don’t even see him can get 3 points against Venezia.

  8. Every Milan fan knew hiring a bum like Fonseca was a bad idea just like buying Royal wasn’t going to work but Zlatan and his garbage colleagues thought those bums were good enough to challenge Inter and Europe.
