Sky Germany: Dortmund forward ‘a serious target’ for Milan – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

A report from Germany has confirmed that AC Milan have ‘concrete’ interest in signing Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

Alvaro Morata completed his medical with Milan this morning and he will soon be officially announced as a new signing, but it seems that the management want to sign another forward to complete the department.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, the Rossoneri’s interest in Füllkrug is concrete. The club have been ‘informed about all details’ as first talks took place between the parties, but there are ‘no negotiations, decisions or agreements yet’.

Milan want to sign at least one more striker after Morata and the 31-year-old Fullkrug is ‘a serious target’ for Milan. Tammy Abraham is also on the list of potential options, and Plettenberg points out that both the Englishman and the German have the same agency (ROOF).

Fullkrug amassed 12 goals and eight assists in 29 Bundesliga games with Dortmund last season, but BVB have just signed Serhou Guirassy and thus it looks like his playing time could be more limited.

In the season prior with Werder Bremen he netted 16 times in 28 league games, with five assists. He also scored twice for Germany at the European Championship which has just ended.

  1. I like him, he is a great CF but i have a problem with us signing two 31 year olds. Morata adds experience, we need a proven player at a good age. Jonathan David is good profile. If he is not part of their plans, I would seriously look at bringing Rashford to milan. He would do well alongside Pulisic and Leao.

    1. I’d like to see Rashford but he plays in the same position as our highest paid player and is paid significantly more than even Leao. Not happening.

      1. Rashford 2 seasons ago had 30 goal season playing as CF. This is where he prefers to play but they bought 2 new strikers since. Under fluid style of Fonseca he would play up top or as a false 9 with Pulisic and Leao alternating similar to how Spaletti played at Roma and Napoli.

    2. Why the F would you want rashford? Dude is even less reliable than leao. He has a good season every 3 years and, obvious from space, can’t play ST alone. Which at Mila he’d have 2.

And David was never a good profile. The way this summer is going, for him, nobody will buy him. Again! Nobody wants him.

  2. I can’t see why he’d choose Milan where he’s not going to be guaranteed to start. If he wants to fight for a place off the bench, Dortmund is perfect already.

  3. If they get Fulkrug, Milan might have Morata and Fulkrug for around 30 mil combined. That would be a great striker starter/backup duo, especially for that money.
Last season Morata had 26 g+a for Atletico
    Fulkrug had 26 g+a for B. Dortmund.
For comparison Juve’s Vlahovic had 21g+a, Napoli’s Osimhen also had 21g+a.
    Morata/Fulkrug as strikers,
    Leao/Okafor left wing
    Pulisic/Chukwueze right wing.
Milan attacking line is looking very good

    1. I agree. Figures aside, Morata and Fulkrug would cost us less and be more effective than Zee. WOuld be a formidable front line.

  4. Some bring up a good point. He wants playing time and with Morata here that’ll be difficult. Not sure he’ll join us.

  5. Morata and Füllkrug are pretty similar in terms of quality, Füllkrug might fancy his chances to start over Morata vs Guirassy. But yeah he wouldn’t be clear #1, if that’s what he desires.
