Sky Germany: Milan star ‘remains the current favourite’ to replace Bayern defender

By Oliver Fisher -

Theo Hernandez has once again been mentioned as a concrete target for Bayern Munich by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

There have been a lot of reports circulating suggesting that Alphonso Davies wants to leave Bayern Munich and move to Real Madrid in the summer, and Theo Hernandez is being lined up as his potential replacement.

Davies’ contract expires in 2025 and, as per Sky Germany earlier this month, Bayern are demanding between €50-60m in order to let the 23-year-old leave.

Bayern want to be prepared in the event of a departure and Theo is ‘one of the top candidates’ to come in and replace Davies. The Frenchman is under contract with the Rossoneri until 2026, but the Bavarians believe a €60-70m offer could tempt the club and the player.

Now, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has given an update on Bayern’s pursuit of Davies’ potential replacement, starting with confirmation that Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen is on their list ‘but nothing concrete or hot at this stage’.

His release clause in the summer is around £35m which is roughly €40m. If Davies were to leave Bayern, Theo Hernández ‘remains the current favourite’ as replacement.

Maatsen and Miguel Gutiérrez – the latter currently at Girona – are the alternatives at the moment, with the Frenchman the first choice.
