Olivier Giroud

Sky: Giroud should be fit to face Inter after scans rule out serious issue

Olivier Giroud should be able to play in the derby against AC Milan in eight days, a report claims, after he suffered an injury problem with France.

In the first half of France’s victory over Ireland last night, Giroud left the field with a left ankle issue and he looked in some serious pain. The player tried to reassure fans after the game, and optimism has filtered since.

According to what is reported by Sky, the tests he underwent today did not reveal any serious injuries, but the attacker will still return to Milanello as a precaution.

He will therefore not participate in the friendly against Germany on Tuesday 12 September. In the next few hours – probably on Saturday – Giroud will return to Milanello and return to training under Pioli’s orders.

Group training in view of the derby is not actually scheduled to resume until Tuesday with the Italian national team using Milanello until then, so the Frenchman will get a period of rest until then.

There is now confidence that he will be back for the game against Inter as per the report, and it is good news for Pioli. Giroud has not started a season with four goals in three games in his entire career, so he will want to keep his red-hot start going.

  1. Have no fear that man Olivier Giroud is here .
I am very pleased of course ,but still a little concerned.
I just can’t see how an injury even a minor ankle one can be resolved in a few days .
We need Olivier ,but only if he is 100 percent fit .
He will definitely score lots of goals this season .

    1. why not if its for example a knock you can soon play again, you can also be in a fistfight and maybe be completely bruised up and in a weeks time with no marks to show. On the other hand i was once kicked over my shins by a late tackle hitting with the studs at training while having shin guards on and half a year later if i touched my shins a precise place i would get a sharp burning feeling in my leg.
Didnt keep me from playing though 😀
Somtimes you are lucky sometimes not.
Anyways it will be great having him back and i as well think he will score a lot this season if he stays fit and propably more than he has accomplished in his previous seasons with us.

  2. I’m not sure about the quality of European professional medical teams. Back when I used to be active playing football, I would frequently sprain my ankle. However, for minor sprains, I was able to return to the field within 1-2 days, and for more severe sprains, it would take about 1-2 weeks to fully recover.
