Sky: How Milan are likely to line up against Sassuolo

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were in training today at Milanello and some indications arrived regarding how the team are likely to line-up on Saturday night against Sassuolo.

According to what was reported by Peppe Di Stefano on Sky (via Radio Rossonera), the most likely configuration for the defence is Theo Hernandez back in the centre with Simon Kjaer, then Davide Calabria at right-back and Alessandro Florenzi on the left.

In midfield it should be Ismael Bennacer as the regista, once again with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders flanking him. Yunus Musah is still training individually, so he is unlikely to start even if he does recover in time.

The now first choice attacking trio of Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao completes the team, with Samuel Chukwueze and Luka Jovic ready to come off the bench if needed.

Milan are in need of a win having dropped points against rock-bottom side Salernitana on Friday, with Jovic’s goal in added time rescuing a draw after what was an otherwise disappointing performance.

The Rossoneri’s recent record against Sassuolo at home is not encouraging, as the Neroverdi have won the last three clashes at San Siro. Milan have not won at home against Sassuolo since March 2019: a 1-0 victory thanks to an own goal by Lirola.

  1. Right…. Kryptonite. Even the color matches. Even Inter went down to them here.

What’s Pioli gonna do? Probably start a 37yo up front and Theo as CB. 🙂 Press high and get caught in transition? Line up Florenzi against Berardi on the Left… LOL!!!

OR… tidy up in the back, clamp up, defend & counter maybe? Won’t be pretty but the team needs a win (as Stefano does even more arguably).

  2. This is just plain stupidity. But you know what? For now I just dont freacking care. I am tired of this stubborn guy. I never say I will be glad we lose because I dont and nothing will change that. But if Pioli will be sucked by the weekend I will be just fine with this.
