Sky: Ibrahimovic makes decision over future as Monza ponder possible move

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has decided that he wants to keep playing and he hopes for a new deal from AC Milan, according to a report.

According to what is being reported by Sky (via PianetaMilan), Ibrahimovic underwent scans in the last few days that confirmed he has suffered a calf muscle problem, which could mean that he is done playing for the season.

Zlatan’s season therefore could end with just 144 minutes of playing across four Serie A appearances and with one goal. The 41-year-old wants to play again before the campaign is done though, and he will do everything possible to be available.

In view of 2023-24, Ibrahimovic’s will is clear: he wants to continue playing for another year and would like his contract with Milan to be renewed until 30 June 2024 .

However, it is not certain that the management will agree to this, which is why the idea of him joining another club has emerged. AFTER 93 goals in 163 games with the Rossoneri, he could join Monza where Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani are pondering a move.

  1. Retain him on a low salary contract – he is so important to the dressing room and he can still contribute!

  2. I don’t understand what is the problem in renewing him if we are pondering to give him some managerial post later at the club why can’t we just renew him for his already low wages in which we get both zlatan the player and the coach.

    1. Exactly. Even in the mere 4 matches Zlatan has played he has had more positive influence than Origi the whole season. So… One of them should definitely leave and that’s not the one whose name starts with Z.

  3. Zlatan is not a coach. And doesn’t influence Pioli’s decision. He should ve left Milan last season, keeping on a low doesn’t make any sense. He barely plays in a whole season, he is just taking the of a young player and he’s salary is not helping Milan to balance its book. Thus let him go !!!

    1. “he’s salary is not helping Milan to balance its book.”

I don’t know whether any of your claims are true but this one certainly isn’t. His salary is only 1M€ and he’s still in the TOP3 in shirt sales. That means he brings in more money to the club than he gets. So he in fact IS helping Milan to balance the books.
