Sky: Ibrahimovic sustains new injury during warm-up for Milan vs. Lecce

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was back in the squad for the first time since the Udinese game but was forced to throw in the towel already during the warm-up. As such, an anxious period awaits the Swede.

The 41-year-old sustained an injury while on international duty with Sweden back in March and had only just recovered ahead of today’s game between Milan and Lecce. However, he never made an appearance and there’s a good reason for it.

According to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Ibrahimovic experienced discomfort in his calf during the warm-up (during the game) and had to leave the pitch with a masseur. He had a slight limp as he walked off and, of course, he never came off the bench.

Ibrahimovic will undergo tests in the coming hours and the situation should become clearer. It might be nothing, but we have learned with the striker that it’s often not the case (unfortunately).

      1. You’re right. It will simply be something GROTESQUE not to renew with Leão and continue with a ‘former player in action’ on the payroll, even if his salary has been reduced.

        1. He still brings in MORE MONEY via shirt sales than his salary is. So even if he had played just 5 minutes this season he would still have been benefiting the club.

      2. He isn’t merely mascot. He motivates the team and he needs to be fast-tracked into being a team manager of some kind to keep everyone fired up.

  1. I feel so sorry for Zlatan. Must be so frustrating to feel your body crumbling as soon as you do something. But maybe it’s time to just call it quits. You’ve had a good run. You did well to come back once more. You got a goal. Now it’s time to do something else.
