Inter boss Antonio Conte was determined to try and lure Franck Kessie across the city divide, according to one journalist.
Kessie has had ups and downs since joining from Atalanta back in summer 2017, but over the last few months he has really begun to develop at a staggering rate, forming a frightening double pivot with Ismael Bennacer.
Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com) reported last month how there have been two attempts by Inter to try and sign Kessie as a gift to Antonio Conte, who is a huge admirer of the Ivorian. Last January there was the offer of a swap deal involving Matias Vecino, then a new attempt in September.
Now, the well-known Sky Italia journalist Sandro Piccinini has confirmed that Conte was indeed pushing to sign Kessie.
“I know for a fact that he wanted Kessie at all costs,” said Piccinini (via MilanLive). It is therefore further confirmation about the rumours, but now it seems that a new contract is most likely for Kessie while Conte had to instead go for Arturo Vidal.
