Davide Calabria and Sergio Conceicao clashed at the end of AC Milan’s victory against Parma, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a notoriously hot-headed figure, cooled the situation.
Throughout his playing career, Ibrahimovic gained a reputation as a strong character, who would not back down from a challenge. Football, after all, is an intensive game that can lead to emotions flowing over, on and off the pitch.
However, the viewing of a head coach and club captain going against each other is certainly something that still creates a reaction. Following the win, Conceicao ran over to Calabria and seemed to be passionately shouting something at him, and the reasoning for that has been revealed today.
It was certainly the most memorable moment of the game, despite the late comeback, but it was resolved by Ibrahimovic, which is potentially a shock to some.
Ibrahimovic discussed the situation again in his press conference earlier today, and Peppe Di Stefano also gave some insight into what happened when speaking to Sky (via Milan News).
“What we can tell you is that Ibrahimovic was remarkable at intervening in the altercation between Conceicao and Calabria. The Swede wanted to talk to both of them, then invited them to speak in front of the cameras to explain what had happened, subsequently conveying more confidence to the Portuguese coach himself after his recent statements.
“He spoke for half an hour with the AC Milan coach, to reassure him and put more peace of mind into the environment.”
Shame he’s not “remarkable” when signing players of credibility.
The faces of Theo and Tomori on that picture say something like ‚Davide stop it, what are you doing man?‘
The winner here in Conceicao showing that no one is off limits when it’s time to roll up the sleeves and call BS when he sees it. I pray he beats some discipline into this young team.
The players have to respect the coach’s decision and him in general but at the same time I’d rather he does what he did in the locker room rather than in public.
Sides with coach who arrived less than a month ago over a player who has been at the club for 10 years mostly without incident…..
Of course MH is here to defend the player. Even if Calabria had said he’d rape Sergio’s mother 7 times you’d still take his side here just because of your principles. You don’t know what really happened but you still need to try to be the knight in shiny armor to rescue the damsel (ie. Calabria).
No coach would lose their mind like that if Calabria was 100% innocent.
He’s been at the club without incident for 10 years – during one of the club’s most successful periods this century.
The football club currently passing itself off as ‘AC Milan’ will never return to being a ‘club’ let alone a ‘top club’ unless it and the fans learn a thing or two about LOYALTY.
That is the difference between a ‘football club’ and a random collection of players pulled together with some dodgy data and backhanders.
“The football club currently passing itself off as ‘AC Milan’ will never return to being a ‘club’ let alone a ‘top club’ unless it and the fans learn a thing or two about LOYALTY.”
Well… I’m loyal to the club – not to the players. You are loyal to the players. Which of us is right? Which of us is “a true fan”? You support players, I support the club. There’s a saying “No one is bigger than the club”. I stand behind that. But! I respect your choice. You choose how you choose. Not my call to make.
Then again what happened ? or better wy? and not even a warning for the coach like this is normal… of of how low did we fell
Is there a reason theyre not mentioning what the problem was???
Ibra is remarkable. That’s why we’re at 7th place right now with 19 points difference with Napoli lol.
He isn’t the coach nor is he on the pitch. Start holding players accountable!
He helped assemble (or rather disassemble) this 7th placed team.
