Sky journalist explains why Ibrahimovic returned to Milanello: “He really cares”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to Milanello has sparked plenty of discussion, and one journalist has documented the details of his visit.

Milan are in a delicate moment having lost the derby 5-1 against Inter on Saturday evening and they need to bounce back immediately tomorrow against Newcastle United in the first game of their Champions League group stage campaign.

As the team arrived for their training session at Milanello today there was a surprise guest, with Ibrahimovic seen arriving at the training ground before speaking with Stefano Pioli on the sidelines and also CEO Giorgio Furlani too.

During an update on Sky, Peppe Di Stefano spoke live from Milanello about the return of Ibrahimovic and what it means, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to Milanello almost three months later, and from what we understand he should have even arrived a few days before the derby,” he said.

“Instead he arrived today, and by chance he arrived exactly when all the journalists were stationed outside the gates of the sports centre waiting to enter. The Swede was welcomed like a king by everyone: managers, employees but also players.

“Once he arrived, he went down to the locker room and gym to greet everyone. Then, Zlatan Ibrahimovic entered the pitch during training, greeted all the technical staff, hugged and spoke to coach Stefano Pioli and stood as if he were a manager on the sidelines next to Giorgio Furlani to observe the training ahead of Milan-Newcastle.

“I believe that Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to Milanello not only for himself, not because he has personal interests but because he really cares about Milan and understood that it was a complicated moment.

“Zlatan knows well that his presence, given and considering what happened this summer with the change in management, could help the group, help him perhaps reawaken pride in some players in particular because the defeat in the derby was not a defeat normal.”

  1. Big daddy Ibra to save the day for useless Pioli once again just like after the 5-1 Atalanta beating years ago
    Absolutely embarrassing
    Fire this loser already

  2. Terrible move Pioli. It calls into question who really steadied the ship when things were rough. Pioli needed to show his ability in that area and not rely on others to do that job for him. Best to tell him visit another day

    1. Everybody knows it was Ibra all along.
Same thing happened when Atalanta thrashed us 5-1.
The fact that he was supposed to be there before the derby makes things even more embarrassing.

  3. Big shame. If the management and Pioli actually called Ibra to come and raise the moral of the boys then they are all shameless. Why did they allow Ibra to go in the first place ?
