‘Following the matter carefully’ – Sky journalist gives Lukaku-Milan update

By Oliver Fisher -

The search for the right striker under the right conditions continues for AC Milan, and Romelu Lukaku is the latest name to enter the media spotlight.

Given the stalemate over Joshua Zirkzee, Milan have begun looking into various alternative targets so as not to be caught unprepared in the event that they do not land the Dutchman, and the Lukaku rumours have erupted again.

Sky claim that Napoli are looking for a new striker with Victor Osimhen almost certain to depart the club this summer and the Belgian is a target, but Milan have been in talks with his entourage and are looking for a loan deal, even if Chelsea want a permanent sale.

Journalist Manuele Baiocchini spoke to Sky and he commented on the rumours that are linking Milan with a move for Lukaku. Radio Rossonera published his comments.

“At the moment, Milan may be ready, but Chelsea are not as far as how to sell Romelu Lukaku is concerned,” he said.

“At this moment Chelsea – in order not to make a capital loss given that it was an operation that never turned out to be positive – would like to sell him for the amount they have him on the books at: 37 million euros, or 34.5 million pounds.

“However, Milan do not want a permanent purchase, but would like a further loan with an option to buy. So let’s say that the track is not so hot because the figures of the Lukaku deal, not only the price tag but also the salary, are still prohibitive for Milan, who however are following the matter carefully.”

Last season Lukaku shrugged off some of his injury problems and played 32 times in Serie A, scoring 13 goals and adding three assists. Roma are not expected to even try to buy him permanently.
