Sky journalist offers update on Milan’s Conceicao-Fonseca debacle: “No plan A or plan B”

By Ben Dixon -

Stefano Pioli’s future has been decided, and his future seems to be identified as well. However, AC Milan have not identified their next move, and whilst suspicions exist about what the next steps for the club might be, nothing is known yet.

As it stands, Milan have to recruit without a name for players to play under, given there have been no concrete movements for any managers. Figures and meetings have been reported, but the club have no official manager going into next season, given Pioli still has not been officially sacked.

Julen Lopetegui’s near-appointment served as a harsh reminder to the management of the power of football fans, and the reaction to their favoured choice was no. However, to Sergio Conceicao, who looks likely to be appointed, the reaction has been much more welcoming.

Di Stefano spoke to Sky Sports about the current situation regarding Milan’s head coach selections, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

Head-to-head Fonseca-Conceicao, no one favourite…

“The choice of the new coach, the pillar of the new Milan, will be pondered over the next few weeks. There are two known names, Fonseca and Conceicao; at the moment there is no favourite. Not a plan A or a plan B. Milan are trying to understand which is the best solution, also concerning the commitments they have with their respective clubs, namely Lille and Porto.”

  1. I really hope this Fonseca topic was just spread by Milan to distract attention from Conceicao…

How they could even consider such a guy like Fonseca? It would be ridiculous, guy has never won anything serious in his life (aside from Ukrainian league with Shakhtar which is equivalent of PSG in France), and was very recently coach of Roma where he was sacked after dissapointing results. Not even good enough for Roma, will be good enough for Milan wanting to go for Scudetto? If he wasn’t able to do anything extraordinary his whole career with smaller teams, then he will not do it with Milan under bigger pressure and bigger expectations. No, just please no

  2. Let me give my opinion: the Plan B is Gasperini. Play with youngster, italian native, old fashion coach but lot of ideas, european spot. Milan can get revenue from the sell the youngster and european spot. The youngster can explode under his guidance, the Example: hojlund, kessie, ketelaere, caldara.

    1. Yeah but he doesn’t have pressure there. He’s coaching a mid table team who are happy to participate in Europe football. Compare to Milan who wants to win domestic and European cup.

  3. I dont get it tho there was reports about thiago motta every day for like a week and a half straight and his name Just vanished… is this a case of working under the radar ( highly unlikely) or did we Just wanna get involved to put pressire on juve …?

    1. Just my thought. I won’t directly comment on this coach matter anymore. They should get whoever they want.
