Sky: The latest on the injured Milan players – 2022 over for Calabria

Several AC Milan players are currently recovering from injuries but only a few of them will return within the next couple of weeks. In spite of this, there is still some good news for the manager Stefano Pioli.

During the game against Empoli last night, Calabria, Kjaer and Saelemaekers were added to the injury list. This means that Milan now have nine players unavailable in one of the toughest periods of the season, with Chelsea XI and Juventus up next.

According to Sky Italia (via @mgpg07), Maignan will be out until the game against Monza later this month. Theo Hernandez is aiming for the clash against Juventus, but at least he will be back for the second leg against Chelsea.

Origi could be back on Wednesday or perhaps the Juventus games, while Messias is feeling better already and could also be included for the first Chelsea game. Kjaer and Saelemaekers will have to await their exams (which will take place tomorrow).

Update: Tests have revealed an MCL tear for Saelemaekers, the rest will be tested tomorrow.

2022 is over for Calabria who suffered a rather serious hamstring injury in yesterday’s game and with Florenzi already out, it’s a big blow for Milan.

  1. Our physios are horrible. Consistently the same players picking up the same injuries. You cannot simply get a player back to 100% and then put them into the group to do the same strength and conditioning as the group. Those workouts need to be personalized. After recovering from a knee injury you are at increased danger of hamstring troubles. Case in point Calabria. Just because a player is back at 100% doesn’t mean that the programming shouldn’t be tailored to their injury history.

      1. You’re the one who is clueless. They just let him said he was fit. If they followed proper treatment he wouldn’t be injured so fast again. Saelemaeker isn’t injury prone. Our physio suck a** point blink.

      2. “You really are clueless. Injury prone players have nothing to do with physios.”

LOL. You just showed who is the clueless one here! Just shows you think the football in real life is just like one in video games.

  2. Milan Lab is useless…
M&M dont need to find player for january window. They have to do a complete overhaul in the Milan lab environment.

    1. R u dumb do u think Milan lab kick their legs or beat them up to injure them if they are injured how is it lab mistake they got injury on pitch.

  3. This might be a blessing in disguise, maybe destroy will prove is worth, maybe Diaz or Adil will flourish in the RW, maybe see one or two player than can add value to Milan team from the bench

    1. Lol…
Mr Pioli will never try Diaz or Adli as RW.
Mr Pioli will always put Krunic in RW instead.
Mr Pioli will always play 4-2-3-1, and Lord Krunic is always the substitute for any of the 2-3-1.
      Thank you

  4. Would have nothing to do with the fact we are playing a game every 3 days and its scientifically recommended / advised that elite football players should get a minimum of 4 days between matches.

Every club without depth will be experiencing this in the current season especially clubs that play a high pressing game like us… eg; Liverpool, Chelsea under Touchel, etc.

    1. Calabria would be available against Chelsea & Juve IF he had the rest he needed. Pioli chose to play him and here’s the outcome.

Just a small hint to the Milan coaches: even the best players need rest. Empoli-matches and such are the ones where calabrias etc. should be rested before more important matches.
