Sky: Italy boss Luciano Spalletti watches training session at Milanello

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan welcomed a special guests to Milanello for today’s training session according to a report: Italian national team head coach Luciano Spalletti.

The Milan squad returned to training today after being given two days off by head coach Stefano Pioli, and they have begun preparing for the game against Genoa at San Siro on Sunday afternoon.

According to what is being reported by Sky (via PianetaMilan), Italy boss Luciano Spalletti was also present at today’s training session for Milan to watch the team get put through their paces.

He is continuing his tour of the complexes of Serie A clubs ahead of the 2024 European Championships in Germany.

Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are candidates to make the squad, plus potentially fringe names like Matteo Gabbia and Tommaso Pobega, but all seem unlikely to at present.

Spalletti was named as the Italy boss on 18 August 2023 after the unexpected resignation of Roberto Mancini, with the former Napoli boss signings a three-year contract until 2026.

Back in November of last year it was confirmed that the Azzurri would be present at UEFA Euro 2024 after they drew with Ukraine in Germany, giving them a superior head-to-head record and thus finishing second in their group behind England.

  1. I think he can move on to Inter training.
No Italians in our senior squad that will make his squad. Maybe Gabbia could occupy the last CB spot in his squad if there were some injuries.
Deschamps would get more out of watching a Milan session.
