Sky: Man Utd will pay Zirkzee clause – Milan forced to wait as he decides

In recent days, Manchester United’s position in the race for Joshua Zirkzee has continued to strengthen, and now, AC Milan are in a torrid position.

For months, Milan have been in the lead for Zirkzee, and even if there were brief periods where their position seemed to become contested, they quickly re-emerged as the favourites for the Dutchman’s signature.

The past week tells a different tale, though. While the Rossoneri held a favourable position, the issues with Kia Joorabchian have not lessened, and whilst the club are attempting to bring Zirkzee’s brother to the club to make a deal happen, their position has lost strength.

Interest has been present from Manchester United throughout the saga, but in the past few days, they have quickly gained footing, and a report yesterday stated that the club were preparing to make a move which would trigger the release clause in his Bologna contract.

Today, this news has been cemented, as Sky (via Francesco Nasato on X) have reported that the club have been in contact with one another and they should pay the required fee. In this case, the decision will be Zirkzee’s, but with the financial issues halting a move to San Siro, whether they are successful remains to be seen.

    1. I would decisively abandoned the target after the agent demand. 15 million commission fee should be good enough reason, plus we can show those tough attitude to those agents and players when we renewed their contract, making an example. As you said we should be faster, should have immediately activate the release clause then negotiate the contract before they get any funny idea. Instead we wait for the whole season to finish without getting any of our key players renewed the contract.

  1. Don’t worry the Bosnian Ronaldo Demirovic will save the Mercato. Then people think Theo and the other top players will stay at Milan just cuz of the name and pride to wear the colours. The best we can do when it comes to it is Calabria

  2. Stop belive in this shitshow guys…Fabrizio say everyday utd just took information and milan have match point. Also came out utd dont want an extra striker for 40 mil when fair play rules allow them to pay only 50 mil without selling.Guys patience if we get them it just shows media said all this to have something to talk about BUT if we dont get him then it shows the lack of ambition in this club…

      1. It may all be too late by then………

I don’t understand why the management and fans don’t apply logic, our weakness last year was defending, should that not be the priority!

I would sell Tomori, Thaiw, Kalulu and Theo get at least 150m and rebuild the whole defence.

The best defenders are Italian, tactically astute, physical and ruthless and historically this is proven, most great teams have national defence, the old AC milan teams which gave Italy the back 5, Arsenal invincible’s English back 4 so on and so fourth.

Use the 150m, grab Boungernou, Calfiori, DeLorenzo and Scavlini. Now that’s an upgrade on what we have right now, players who defend to the end and not let Lecce comeback from being 2:0 down

I hear all these names Brassier, BenoitB all these legless, clueless French defenders, when the best defenders are on Milan’s door step

        1. I agree with this. Sell kalulu and others but tomori and thiaw still at the squad, they have still more room to improve. The best defenders still from italians, so milan have to sign italian hot prospect defenders beside sign for free hummels…

  3. Just pay the money for goodness sake! It’s not like the agents won’t do it again because Milan said no. They will just do business somewhere else. After all… The banker an his boss should know this about business! We will end up with a mediocre player or will have to pay 60 + for a good player. Zlatan is such a disappointment acting tough and in charge. That little banker runs the building.

    1. We can’t pay Bologna until next month anyway so whatever Milan agree it would only be verbal and another club could come in and offer more before his clause is active.

  4. Would be quite a statement if Zirkzee rejected any other offers that and tell his agent that he only wants Milan or he’d rather stay at Bologna. That would force the agent to lower the commission SIGNIFICANTLY and everybody in the universe not named Kia would be glad with that one.

    Then I woke up.
