Sky: Massara wants Roma veteran as new backup goalkeeper at Milan – the situation

By Isak Möller -

Milan are preparing for the summer transfer window and a lot will depend on the final eight games of the season, as finishing in the top four is crucial. Either way, the management is looking at a few potential signings.

According to reports from Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, one of the positions that the Rossoneri could strengthen is the one between the sticks. Of course, if Gigio Donnarumma leaves they will need a replacement, but they could also sign a new backup.

Sporting director Ricky Massara has set his sights on the 37-year-old Antonio Mirante, whose contract with Roma will expire in the summer. A contract renewal is unlikely as the Giallorossi want to revolutionise the squad ahead of next season.

Massara believes the former Parma man could be the perfect backup goalkeeper in the squad, per the report, thanks to his leadership abilities. However, Milan already have Ciprian Tatarusanu in that role, which poses some questions.
