Sky: Milan agree Daka deal with Leicester but face bureaucratic race

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Leicester City and with Patson Daka over the terms of a deal, and now face a race against time to get it over the line.

Since the Mehdi Taremi deal fell apart there have been a number of different strikers linked with Milan from Antonio Sanabria to Willian Jose, but it seems Daka is the name that they have chosen to focus on.

According to Sky (via MilanNews), Milan have reached an agreement with Leicester over the figures and formula of the operation with Daka over personal terms.

Now it is a race against time to get the green light for a work permit. Being a non-EU citizen, a little more time is needed than signing an EU player but the management are trying to speed things up.

At the time of writing there is less than seven hours left in the window, with a medical and bureaucratic issues to solve before the 20:00 CEST deadline.

  1. What kind of player is this guy? Anyone know anything about his characteristics that has seen him more than in youtube-clips?

    1. According to FBRef, he is very good at assists but interestingly, he is exceptional in … tackling, interceptions, and blocks. There’s probably more to this but my guess is that Pioli is looking primarily for a forward who will press the hell out of the opposition defense, to provide to either put himself into a goalscoring position or deliver to our wingers who will invert.

  2. More of a striker for a 2 man forward line.
He looked good at Salzburg, but they all look good in that league. Didn’t do that good at Leicester.
Would have preferred more of a prototypical #9, like Jose from Betis, but for everyone that was calling for Balogun, David, Wahi, Openda, he is that kind of a striker

  3. i didnt know average strikers can score 54 goals and make 16 assists in 82 apps for Salzburg, he failed at Leicester so he just sucks now?!

    1. That’s what I said but no idea how much he’d cost. I like this Daka dude as well though – he’ll do well if we can get him in time.

      1. Ihne is valued at 18M atm and has contract till 2024 so not much imao.
Idk about Daka if he comes we shall see, but seems like a dud

    2. He was a hot commodity scoring 30+ for Salzburg 2 seasons ago at age 22 and Leicester then paid 30 million for him. He had a tough year but is no random guy.

      1. meh, every 3rd player from salzburg is hot commodity.people forget its austiran league.. thats the lvl of serie b. Salzburg wins every time, no competition

    3. He’s much better than Iheanacho. Daka is a good player and can be one for the future but knowing it’s an English club we getting him from the “English tax” will be insane

  4. I guess we’ll see, hope it works out. It seems like a cost-effective purchase. He didn’t really impress at Leicester, but they were awful last year. Maybe a change of scenery and system will bring out his best.

  5. Ac Milan is not Leicester.
Leicester as a team is a flop,Daka not doing well at Leicester is a team problem not an individual problem

    1. Daka can do much better if given enough time, chances like 15,10,20 minutes you can show that confidence but it’s hard, chances to score goals in those minutes are very slim.

  6. This is total waste of time and resources…..as much as I like the businesses we’ve done in recent times…..this one breaks my heart, why not just make do with Origi or even Colombo

  7. I loved AC Milan mostly because of Pipo Inzaghi, Genaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Nesta, Paulo Maldini and Carlo Ancelotti.
Now only the weak Calabria is the Italian in the first team.
I don’t know Milan anymore, I don’t understand what is going on.
No matter the trophies this team wins it feels like nothing to me.
I am not proud of AC Milan anymore.
