Sky: Milan and Inter in concrete competition for Frattesi and Thuram

AC Milan and Inter are ready to compete for the signing of two major objectives in Marcus Thuram and Davide Frattesi, a report claims.

According to a report from Sky, Milan and Inter are going head to head for the first time since Geoffrey Kondogbia joined the Nerazzurri a few years ago, with Frattesi and Thuram the subject of interest from both clubs.

In recent days Inter have taken important steps to sign the Sassuolo midfielder, but now Milan – with the economic strength deriving from the sale of Tonali to Newcastle – are trying to burn the competition quickly.

Meanwhile, Inter are pushing to try and overtake Milan in the race that leads to Thuram. In recent days, the Rossoneri had presented an official offer for the French striker, whose deal at Borussia Mönchengladbach is expiring.

They were expecting an answer by Saturday but the competition from their city rivals means that Thuram – together with his father Lilian – will have to make a decision between the two offers.

        1. Such a goodie two shoes you are. All clubs are corrupt, literally all. Only some people here care about us being good little slaves and then trying to justify the tonali sale… what a joke.

        2. They’ve got a 26 million euro fine hanging over them at the end of the next agreement and their owner’s loan payments due next year are something crazy like 400m USD so it’s very likely that unless they get another bailout from the Chinese government that they’ll end up losing control to Oaktree and then they’ll be in the position that we were when Elliot took over.

        3. 200mil is not massive debt for a top flight European club. Just stop with the debt this sent that already. Players don’t even care with debt. Great players care with the club ambition. So why us, just being fans, should bother too much? It’s not our place.

      1. More interesting focus on the slap in the face for RED BIRD & CO for losing out on signing Thuram to Evil rivals inter

Moncada & CEO have a massive job to bring anyone to Milan this summer and the Maldini saga may bite them on their imperial ass

        Good luck CARDI !

  1. Meanwhile, Tim Weah going to Juventus for only 12m 🙁

If there was one player out there that the fans would instantly get behind…

  2. Well, it’s breaking now that Thuram had decided to join Inter..

    ◉ Marcus Thuram a décidé de rejoindre l’inter Milan❗️

    1. Romano saying the same. Up **** creek without a paddle now aren’t we…

Too late for Scamacca… we’re going to have to hope Lukaku wants some revenge for dumping him

    2. Incredible, but I expected that. Not that he will join Inter but that Milan isn’t the first choice. The message that Milan sent with how they dealt with Maldini after he said we need more funds and Tonali that was labeled as the future captain was great. It will attract everyone to want to join Milan…

      1. This is where letting Maldini go will bite them in the @$$ – No flag bearer to convince players to join. They better adapt fast because end of summer will be here sooner than they think.

        1. But i thought getting rid of Maldini didn’t matter?? Or was that @Pioli who said that? Lol.

The truth is current and potential players are questioning the direction of the club. We are a fkn mess right now. We sack M&M in such a disrespectful manner and then just sell our future captain, an Italian who grew up a Milan fan. That has consequences. If your a new player why would you want to come right now when we seem to be in such disarray?? It’s not as if we are offering you more $$ than anyone else so why would you bother? Ownership has callously showed our history doesn’t matter and that everyone is for sale. So unless your desperate and don’t have any other clubs after you, as a player you may question whether it’s worth signing for us right now. Maybe things get clearer in a month or so but right now we are a disaster and all because of Gerry and his ego and his running our historic club for profit.

          Sad.

          1. Zio Gerry knows nothing about what Milan means to real fans only what an assistant that has the knowledge of having read 2-3 google articles about “soccer not football”about Milan tells him. First he fires Maldini the face of Milan the past 40 yrs giving the team prestige then sells Tonali captain future willing to take a pay cut in order to stay at Milan
Good luck to Moncada and foot licking Furlani trying to lure players to this mess they created FU Zio

      2. Yup. Multiple sources stated that he was unconvinced by the club’s project. Frattesi will join inter too, i bet. I freakimg hate these owners. Really liked elliot days, who actually build this team. Now, redbird want to destroy. Yet, some bots still defend them. Its funny how they quastion inter’s books. They just made over 100mil from cl and seria a you clowns. . Still can pocket a few mils. Wish redbird would have bought inter and not our beloved milan.

  3. Has anyone considered the possibility that RedBird may not splash Tonali’s amount in the market….
These American boys only want to gain. Especially with a possible new stadium in a few (at least 5) years….

    1. I have been saying that over and over brother. Everyone assumes we will spend ALL of that $$ just like everyone assumed we would spend ALL or most of the UCL $$$ – that we have seen was dead wrong.

      1. We have to give a percentage out to Brescia. We are not replacing a player of equal talent with 2 to 3.5 million euros he cost us yearly. They might have 50 to 55 out of the 70 to spend on a transfer because the difference in wages needed to get a player capable of being a starter for us on a 5 year deal is 10 million euros more. So when you balance it out, we will loose out by selling him, not actually improve.

    1. To be fair, that’s just good planning. Both players have been sounded out months in advance, their place in Inter’s plan is clear. I guess Thuram was second choice to Lukaku but they can’t make that deal work.

I was disappointed with Maldini’s sacking but I can get over it. The big problem with it was timing; making a new plan when everyone else already has theirs and has sounded out the players on their list. It needed to be months ago if it needed doing.

      1. Sorry, that’s a crap excuse. Milan should have been making their plans as well. And selling Tonali wasn’t “planned”, the directors just saw dollar signs. The management of AC Milan, frankly, is a disaster. If I were a regular-game-attending fan, I’d be thinking about boycotts.

        1. Oh, I’m agreeing with you – it’s awful planning from Furlani, Cardinale and management; sacking the sporting director team when the market is opening is proving to be a disaster.

      2. S**ty scenario for us. And I wrote that before knowing that Thuram is getting closer to Inter. Just a scenario for those who really confident in us getting both players. And now it’s about to happen. Wow. We’re not hearing Inter did any kind of move on Thuram ’till hours go. Yet they beat us in front of our nose after weeks of negotiation. What a knock out punch for the master of all things Furlani.

  4. Reports that Thuram has chosen inter, can anyone confirm?

I’m not his biggest fan but I think he’d be waaaay better and cheaper than Lukaku. Really hope we don’t end up with the Belgian Inter reject

    1. Many sources claim that Thuram has chosen inter.
Don’t dream too much, we will end up with mediocre players and play for 6th place next year at most

    2. It makes sense for him, to go and play with Lautaro in a 2 men attack. For him that is probably way better. I would have like that he joined Milan because if all the free players reject Milan there won’t be a full team for next season. I think the chance that Colombo is staying as the 3rd striker is 99%.

  5. So.. apparently.. Thuram chose the club that wants to win instead of the club that wants to sell him the next year? WHO Would’ve thought THAT?
it was inter that always chased money while Milan chased Glory.. and now.. Goddamn! We really really needed Thuram in our team.

    1. Thuram is chasing $$$. Inter offering more. Not sure what the PSG offer was. 5-5.5/season was too much for Thuram who is still largely unproven. I hope they don’t raise the bid.

      1. Nah it’s not about money if it’s only 500k-1mil difference. It’s not about money if it took only matter of hours to get the deal done. While on the other hand we’ve spent weeks.

Unproven yet this new management seemed to really put their trust on him. Offering high salary and key role in the squad. It’s a desperate move by them. Just admit that we’re knocked out in day light.

      2. Thuram is DEFINITELY chasing money. It shouldn’t be a surprise to Furlani in the first place. No one will come to tapeworm’s Milan for ANYTHING other than Money. It’s not like the club took a SINGLE step to affirm ANY form of ambition.

  6. Judging from the previous posts, I think I can envisioned comments along the lines of:

    “We don’t need him anyway”
“Thuram is a flop, can’t even win a place over Giroud in the NT”
“Lukaku is a better player and has Serie-A experience, with good hold up and link up play, he made Lautaro seems like a worldbeater, imagine what he’ll do to Leao”

    etc..

TBH, I don’t know if Thuram is the answer for our long term striker issue, we never know until it really happens, but this has been such a waste of time and quite embarassing if we get beaten by Inter who’s neck deep in debt.

I think I’m done for the day lol. Play nice and stay classy guys.

    1. Romano just confirmed it 2 minutes ago. Beyond embarrassing. Also Thuram was a childhood Milan fan, imagine how unattractive Milan is when he signs for Inter instead.

      twitter(at)com/FabrizioRomano/status/1672334304385400832

    2. “can’t even win a place over Giroud in the NT”

I have been saying that over and over in the past 2 weeks. He also only has 13 league goals last season, the other 3 goals are against 5th tier German club in cup competition.

      1. And he has, only scored three goals against sides in top four.. 2 against Bayern Munich and 1 against Borussia Dortmund! In fact only once has he scored, more than one goal! In a 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg..
Other than that, it has been one goal every four match or so..

Not saying he would’ve flopped, but he is unproven in a top team.. And there is so much hype, as if he is Haaland or Lewandowski!

  7. Welcome to feederclubhood I guess?

No good player will even consider Milan their destination? Sad day for us. Lets see if Arda Guler at least commits to us, but seeing the livid displays of Furlani’s charms with Thuram, who in fact, IS a Milan fan… Hope is diminishing.

    1. Erm, good feeder clubs attract plenty of talent. And every club is a feeder club, nothing wrong with making some sales to reinvest. Just a lot wrong with how Milan seem to be going about it.

Clubs like Ajax, Dortmund, Benfica, Sporting make huge sales every year but have fantastic systems set up to attract and recruit the replacement talent. Milan appear to be trying to follow the model (which is fair enough for any team without a nation owner) but very much struggling to pull it off so far…

You’re going to have to get used to nearly every club being a ‘feeder’ club, because the Bosman system and fixed length contracts incentivise players moving clubs, especially as far as their agents are concerned.

      1. That is true. Even Inter. However, when a player leaves they have a transfer ready to replace the player. They don’t sell randomly.

      2. Ajax, Dortmund, Benfica, Sporting.. Will they ever win UCL or ever compete even remotely with Giants?

“You’re going to have to get used to nearly every club being a ‘feeder’ club, because the Bosman system and fixed length contracts incentivise players moving clubs, especially as far as their agents are concerned.”

I guess we disagree on that. Every club sells indeed. In my definition, feeder club is the club that sells pivotal players for money instead of retaining them with the goal of winning trophies. We don’t seem to have that as our goal anywhere. That makes us a feeder club, the worst kind that cant attract even childhood fans of the club to play for us it seems. If we weren’t a feeder club, we should’ve sold Tomori instead of Tonali. That would be a good business but Tonali is outright foolish move. No replacements, no plans ahead, no goal, just because someone waddled a stack of cash before our tapeworm and SOLD! lol

  8. “I can’t wait to play with Sandro Tonali, we are “Can’t wait to play with Tonali, both lifetime Milan fans, we will develop great chemistry maybe become legends together at the club we both love…I will become one they will remember like Maldini one day…agent calls…wait what, Krunic is the only healthy midfielder left, with Pobega coming off an injury and 5 minutes of playing time, how can I score without anyone to pass me the ball…..F*ck It, I am going to Inter-”
    Kindly,

    Yours Truly,

    Marcus Thuram

      1. Honestly, who can trust any promises made to them when the people making them sold their best midfielder that did everything to stay there after making 120 million euros more than expected with an abysmal wage budget? Next 5 years is a rebuild. We need three midfielders, a striker, and a right winger, left winger, attacking midfielder. We need to replace Kessie, Bennacer, Tonali, Ibra, Upgrade RW. We will probably have 50 million for the sale of Tonali. Plus 35, that get you 2 positions covered with good prospects. not finished players. Leao, Maignan, Theo are gone by next summer.

These players know a kid who negotiates sponsorship deals that never kicked a ball as a professional will never have the no competence or ability to run a team. Scouts write reports, they don’t negotiate or build teams…We are going nowhere fast

        1. This is what happen when the management treat players like chess pieces a.k.a business as usual instead of Milan family.

    1. Why did we need Thuram, everyone loved the idea of a free transfer so the money could be spent elsewhere.

We have Leao who is the best in Seria a and a lot better then Thuram.

Inter fans and coach would have preferred Lakaku over Thuram as he gives guarantees.
Thuram could do for Inter what Origi has done for US!!

      1. We have a 37 year old striker….and…..Leao…then….how did that go for us. Inter give him hypothetically speaking a 15 million euro signing bonus. We now have to spend 25 to 40 to get a player with his scoring ratio and age, or older player more susceptible to injuries. That makes us have to use resources for two reinforcements by making 1 signing.

They just maintained their squad depth and financial leverage in the market with one move. Of course this management is unconvincing and caught sleeping, being complacent, negligent and clueless yet AGAIN.

I said it, this team is going down the shithole with the management group and owners. We have a percentage of Tonali’s transfer going to Brescia, so we have to replace a proven, productive starter, another one in midfield, attacking midfield, striker and winger. So even if we have 100 million to spend, That is 15 to 20 million per position on average. WIth 3/4 minimum of it having to go to two crucial, expensive positions to fill. We will not pull that off. This just put a fork in our market, it is done.

Coup de Grâce as we say in French, they can recruit that saying from France too.

      2. We could have gotten both Thuram for Right wing, with Lukaku in the middle and have Giroud off the bench or play against smaller clubs to start, rotate in compact fixtures, with Leao on the Left. For a 10 million sign on, a 25 year that can score even 8 to 10 goals from the wing is a bargain. Ten more goals in our 1 goal matches this year would have given us a consecutive Scudetto over Napoli, easily. Kessie and Hakan would have provided that for 5 million more per year or wages. They pay their differential in their contracts off by having us finish 1st instead of 4th or 5th this season.

We lost Thuram for 500 thousand euros to Inter….We lost Hakan to them for 100 to 300 k.

You are seing the incompetence wasn’t on Maldini. The mismanagement of our assests come from the hardball, hardline number crunching morons with their statistical models they follow to the letter without exception.

Kessie, Donnaruma, Tonali, Hakan all on these Bill Beaners that have been advising the club decision makers at the top. We could have easily signed Donna, kept Maignan, they split sticks one season so we sell Donnaruma to PSG even for 40 to 50 million. They didn’t want to take “risks” or go above their fixed parameters and thresholds.

Business, to be the best, you have to be audacious and take gambles. We have until 2026 to balance FFP with UEFA, so even if we operated at 30 million a year for 3 years more than than permitted with regulations, by retaining our players for more than we judged to be in comfort zone, Donnarumma, Hakan, Kessie or Bennacer, who I would have sold to keep Kessie if one had to stay the other go, they kept him because he was cheaper due to being less proven, more injury prone, we would have recouped those additional operating costs with 5 year deals at year 3. Donnaruma’s sale alone or Bennacer could have made up for that.

This is people who look at budgets with margins and shareholders in mind to make the most with the least investment, they don’t care for our club.

  9. Ok, so Thuram our major target is gone, so what now? We’ve sold NO ONE, but one of our top 4 players, we now have no midfield, no attack, this transfer window is already destroyed, we’re going to the Conference next season….
I literally kept positive after the M&M sacking, I can even make sense of selling Tonali, but it’s clear that we cannot sign our primary targets.
I’m doubtful about SMS, we’re gonna get a Serie A mid team level striker from a barely top 10 league, we’ll might get some rejects from the PL and that’s it.
Here’s to a good mercato adding depth to the squad, lol….
Beyond ridiculous, just imagine the PR nightmare Cardinale has, absolute shambles.
We couldn’t even announce Kamada yet ffs…

    1. Yeah exactly that, that’s what you get for having a strong and experienced guy in you’re board who you respect and doesn’t make a mess about a budget because they don’t really have any, which is a bit of a shame for a club like Inter tbh. But that’s much better then the way we do things now, sacking youre club legend and having a poor board who isn’t good in making decisions

  10. Where is @Piloi???? Why so silent?? LOLOLOLOLO. His boy Furlani couldn’t deliver and the kid is silent? Terrible. If you can dish it out you have to take it kid

    1. Just yesterday @Poli claim Furlani’s victory over Maldini with the reason being Thuram joining Milan over P$G.

  11. What a fkn embarrassment. Inter of all teams right from under our noses. Furlani’s INEXPERIENCE has been revealed. The fact Moratta stole him right from under his nose is telling. An experienced director or someone with connections in the football world would have known Thuram was talking with Inter. But Georgio got caught with his pants down. Horrible. Not so easy to sign players eh Georgio?? Even when they are free! Inter outbid us and have a concrete PROJECT and we sadly right now do NOT. We are a fkn mess and players can see that. Now we are after Alvaro Morata?? LOL. It’s sad – and it is all Redbirds doing. I know I know what the Redbird lovers will say – no big deal Thuram isn’t that good anyways and we can get a better striker. Well – now that will cost more $$$$ as no more good strikers left on a FREE. So now we have to SPEND. Because we have another huge hole to fill in addition to Tonali and RW and ACM and now Striker – and now we have to SPEND. The question is will we? And if so – are we selling another star (Theo) to do it or dipping into that UCL (120M) prize $$????

My guess is we SELL Theo and raise more money why?? Not Because we “need” to sell but because Redbird don’t want to spend any money BUT from player sales

So now is the true test for Redbird in what direction we are taking the club. Do we sell some more players or start spending???? Time will tell very very soon gents

    1. They showed the direction, it took 500 k more to make Thuram go to Inter instead of us. He knows there is a gap in both teams quality and we just widened it by selling Tonali. This is a team managed by executives with with no direction or sporting ambitions.

      1. That 500k is only cherry on top. The real reason should be all about the player’s preference for a club. Whether it’s the ambition, system, etc.

    2. Yeah exactly, I said this and I say it again. Making list of good player is easier than convincing player, unless you have infinite money. When you don’t have infinite money this is the crucial time for charismatic director like Maldini to convince about project and history. Furlani and co knows that the project is to make Milan as stepping stone and your next journey will be to the highest bidder either Nottingham Forest when they bought by oil sheik or Newcastle stuff. Also these clowns have zero understanding about Club history like many of their supporter.
Don’t worry, I will support the board if they can pull something off. But so far they can’t even land a free transfer and managed to sell one of fundamental player of Milan for big money. What is the urgency to sell Tonali now? Tonali played every game, his salary is not a waste. The urgency is to sell Rebic and Origi. Horror show is when they can sell Tonali but they can’t offload Rebic and Origi, then lost all targets because no one has a clue how to convince player.
      JOKE

  12. Who needs Thuram, we have Rebic. He will not be sold. So stop with the feeder club nonsence.
Lets be real, we are in talks in talks, days pass, and we wake up with Inter haveing the deal done in 5 min.

  13. Wait wait, hold down, so Pioli’s call didn’t do the magic? How dare a player does such thing to our center of gravity?

  14. It’s already done, thuram has chosen inter. It’s pathetic really. We’ve been focusing on thuram for the last 3 weeks and in under 24hrs just when we think it might be over he goes and chooses inter. It doesn’t bother me that we didn’t get thuram because I don’t think he’s anything special but for a free transfer why not; but the fact that we wasted so much precious time and made too many phone calls to him where he goes and snubs us for our rivals. It’s embarrassing and that’s where both furlani and moncada can’t make up for what Maldini could do. Convince any player with ease.

For frattesi once again I think I already know his answer. He admitted he’s already chosen the club he wants to go to and that’s inter. The only thing holding it back is that inter can’t afford him at the moment. Also, frattesi is a decent player but I don’t think he’s 40m good. We can get much better players for that price but once again the fact of losing out to inter is just insulting.

I know many people may not agree with this but I’m hoping we finally go after scamacca now. He has similar characteristics to ibra and that’s the exact type of player we need to lead the line. A big no to Morata. Other than all that, we’re linked with way too many players and I don’t believe in anything anymore and I don’t know what to expect. Just that the 3 last weeks have given me a migraine

    1. And maybe they confidently sold Tonali with an assumption that the money will be directed to Thuram (signing fee bonus) and Frattesi. Well, that didn’t age well.

  15. to be honest, Thuram is more suitable for Inter because of their formation and available players. He will be perfect duo with Lautaro, a clinical finisher. While Thuram provide strength, height and dribbling, just like what Lukaku offer who will go back to chelsea. While Milan need someone who will compliment to Leao, who provide back for goal, click on, and excellent header just like Giroud. What Milan missing is a really good crosser from right wing with right foot, not to penetrate. This sometimes has been accomplished by Calabria. Florenzi is also good crosser but too bad for his injuries.

  16. Frattesi just became even more important.

It is being reported Thuram has accepted the deal from Inter, and that we’re now going to shift our focus to Scamacca (where I’d say it should have been the whole time).

As I understand Scamacca and Frattesi are very close and the appeal of playing together could be very significant.

  17. Can’t even land free transfer. And where is Kamada? Are we going to miss another free transfer? Joke
Maldini failed to sell player and hired 34 year old striker. What we got? Scudetto.

These clowns get huge money from UCL semis and ticket sales entire season, managed to sell one of fundamental and potential growing player for Milan. And failed to secure free transfer. JOKE!!
