Sky: Rossoneri blindsided by Inter’s pursuit as Calhanoglu ‘did not notify Milan’ of offer

Hakan Calhanoglu’s recently dropped the bomb of his upcoming transfer to eternal rivals Inter, as the Nerrazzuri seek for Christian Eriksen’s replacement.

It is unclear whether the Danish midfielder will resume his playing career anytime soon after suffering a cardiac arrest in Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland. The Turkish attacking midfielder is set to undergo his medical across town after deciding to renew his Rossoneri contract. He is bound to return to Milan after Turkey’s unimpressive EURO 2020 campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports (via MilanNews), renowned journalist Luca Marchetti revealed important details of the Calhanoglu’s impending transfer.

He said: “Inter took advantage of Calhanoglu, given Eriksen’s condition: there was a blitz and found an agreement with the player in a few days.

He also explained that the attacker failed to notify AC Milan’s board and management regarding interest from another team, let alone Milan’s closest rivals.

“From what we know, Calhanoglu did not notify Milan that there was another team; the Turk accepted the Nerazzurri’s offer for next year,” he said.

Calhanoglu’s contract expires with Milan at the end of June. He amassed 172 appearances for Milan, scoring 32 goals in the process.
