Sky: Milan could go back in for Bournemouth man as Reina is deemed outside the plans

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could secure the return of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as they look for a new deputy to Gianluigi Donnarumma, a report claims.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s latest for Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Pepe Reina is expected to leave and therefore Milan could try to bring Begovic back. Work is in progress to give Pioli a squad almost ready for the beginning of preseason in one week.

Pepe Reina recently returned from his loan at Aston Villa, but his salary of €3m per year is too high, and therefore he’s expected to leave the club with Valencia strongly credited with interest.

As for Begovic, he arrived on loan from Bournemouth in January but he has returned to England. Milan appreciate his qualities and his charisma, but they also need to understand if he’s looking for a starting spot or a backup role.

Alessandro Plizzari is expected to join Reggina on loan and Primavera starter Soncin has also departed on loan for the season, leaving the two Donnarumma brothers as the only options.
