Sky: Milan could sign Mandzukic on a free as contacts with agent take place

By Isak Möller -

Contrary to what has been reported in Italian media recently, Milan could sign a striker this transfer window to strengthen the attack. By the looks of it, they have set their sights on a former Juventus man.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews), speaking live on Sky Italia this evening, Milan have held contacts with Giovanni Branchini, the agent of Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian striker is a free agent, having terminated his deal with Al-Duhail.

The hypothesis of signing Mandzukic has gathered steam in the Milan camp and after speaking with his agent both yesterday and today, they will now decide how to proceed. In terms of characteristics, he could be a good backup for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

At the age of 34, he would be yet another experienced element in what is a very young Rossoneri side. With an important upcoming stretch in the league, his presence could be of value for the youngsters.

    1. By the looks of things, I don’t think this Milan management deserve to be the leaders of this our beloved team. For God’s sake this is the time we the rossoneri fans have been hoping for, now we’re at the top of the league, a good and sensible management will do everything possible to equip the team further for the race. Why going for Dead players that we don’t need? For God’s sake we’re Ac Milan we need too players. Please wake up Milan management.

      1. The management you deemed undeserved of this Milan team is the one responsible in creating this Milan team lol. Not every owner is a oil conglomerate that can spend any money, especially in this Covid season.

  1. It is REALLY easy to criticize, without offering feasible solution indeed. Let’s rewind a year back, we just got beat 0-5 by Atalanta. I think anyone would call you crazy/retarded if you say in a year time we gonna go undefeated for 20+ league games and leading the top of Serie-A halfway through the season. Don’t forget that our main objective has always been CL qualification. And due to the financial issues, we are unable to spend like EPL teams. So please, let us know who do you guys think are obtainable at the moment? Everyone and his dog would of course wants Haaland, Mbappe, etc to lead the line. But at the moment, we are unable to attract such names.

Back to Mandzukic, I think this primarily means that we’re just adding depth to cover Ibra with someone who KNOWS how to win and is pretty much proven in Serie-A (of course he has deteriorated but still). This also means that we’re saving our budget for the right guy on the summer windows – not now.

Imagine if we frantically buys everyone who are beyond our means (remember Li’s era?), and in the end STILL fall short of Scudetto. You guys would be the first one to throw the management under the buses too. These current crop of players have proven themselves thus far, let them freaking finish the race, with just some backups for depth. Even if we fail this season, I truly believe, we are on the right path to success. Let’s not make the same mistake as Li.

(and for those who are mad that we’re missing out on Kone and possibly Simakan too, wow. Seriously lol.) I swear some of us fans just want to buy players for the sake of it.

    Sorry for the long rant.

  2. Mandzukic is a wise chioce for Milan. It will do us a lot of good to make it posible, Mario Mandzukic is a wise deputy for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and R.Léo.
