Sky journalist Manuele Baiocchini gave an update live on Sky Italia on the eve of AC Milan’s trip to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Today marked the final training session before the team leave for Germany and Baiocchini spoke on Sky about the mood surrounding the squad at the moment, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.
“We are here at the eve training before the match against Borussia Dortmund. Here is Giroud, who will lead the attack tomorrow. Next to him in such an important match is Leao: the two players that Stefano Pioli will not want to give up for this very, very important match,” he said.
Baiocchini also revealed that part of the reason for the positive atmosphere around Milanello today was because of the celebration of Davide Bartesaghi’s contract renewal after he signed his first professional deal yesterday.
“Here there is applause, because Davide Bartesaghi is at the center of the group. At the age of 17 he signed a contract renewal with Milan, until 2026.
“When he turns 18, he will extend it for another two years, until 2028. There was a lot of applause for him who represents the future and the perspective Rossoneri.”
The Sky journalist then went on to recap what the schedule is for the team in their first Champions League away game of the 2023-24 group stage campaign, one that could have a big influence on whether the team quality for the knockout stages.
“Malick Thiaw will speak with Pioli this evening at the Westfalenstadion in a press conference. So let’s give the day’s program: Milan will leave Milanello after training at 2:50pm to be at Malpensa Prime by around 3:30pm.
“Then the flight to Dortmund, where the real eve will begin. There is good humour, serenity, smiles. Musah will also play tomorrow, let’s remember: four players are absent and three of these are in midfield. Krunic, Loftus-Cheek and Bennacer.
“It will be a completely new midfield: Reijnders will most likely be in the control room, with Musah and Pobega on either side of him.
“In defence there will be Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori and Theo Hernandez, ahead of Maignan. The attacking trio will be completed by Pulisic, and it will be a very important match for him.
“There is great serenity, a clear head and this 5-1 is now behind us. Above all there is a desire to work seriously. Just like Milan, Dortmund are also looking for important points.”
