Sky: Milan optimistic regarding renewal of Chelsea-linked star; distance in Calhanoglu talks

By Oliver Fisher -

The month of January begins and Milan are tackling the issue of contract renewals as well as signings and sales.

At the end of the season the contracts of Donnarumma, Calhanoglu and Ibrahimovic will expire, while they are in theory free from this January 1st to negotiate with other clubs as well.

According to the latest from Sky Italia, the Rossoneri management obviously do not want to lose any star players and there is optimism regarding Donnarumma, for whom the parties have been negotiating for some time now.

The will of both the club and the player is to move forward together, while the parties are in constant contact and the feelings about it are positive.

Simon Phillips of TalkChelsea reported that Chelsea have started talks with the Italy international and they are hoping to persuade him to join the club this summer when his contract is up.

The situation regarding Calhanoglu is a bit more complicated, as the request of his agent is €5million a year (equal to some offers received from abroad to the player), while Paolo Maldini and co. are still at €3.5m.

There is still distance, in short, but we continue to negotiate in search of an agreement that would make both happy. Finally, on Ibrahimovic any decision has been postponed to the end of the season, and will be based on the physical condition of the Swede.
