Sky: Milan serious about €33m Norwich defender; Chelsea could be key as competition arises

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in the running to land Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey but face competition from Germany, according to a report.

The Rossoneri are understood to be keen on adding a young centre-back to their ranks this summer who can grow alongside Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer, and Sky are reporting that Godfrey appears to be a serious option.

The outlet claims that Milan met with Godfrey’s representatives before the 3-0 Serie A win over Cagliari on Saturday night, and that Norwich value the player at £30m, which is around €33m.

However, Milan are not alone in their pursuit as Bayer Leverkusen are also keen on signing the England U21 captain. Representatives of the Bundesliga side are expected to step up interest later in the week, but only if Kai Havertz completes his move to Chelsea.

Godfrey made 30 Premier League appearances this summer as Norwich were relegated to the Championship as the bottom side.
