Sky: Milan begin talks with Lukaku’s entourage but it could be a ‘provocation’

AC Milan have reached out to the entourage of Romelu Lukaku ahead of a potential summer attempt to sign him, according to a report.

Milan’s summer transfer window appears to have burst into life over the last 48 hours with the news that Sandro Tonali is on his way to Newcastle United for what would be a club record fee.

A rather sensational rumour emerged this morning from La Gazzetta dello Sport, who claimed that the Milan management are internally discussing launching an attempt to sign Lukaku from Chelsea.

They stated that Milan would have no problems paying the fee asked for a permanent deal by the Blues with the Tonali sale, which would be around €40m at present.

Alessandro Sugoni spoke on Sky this lunchtime to give an update on the situation, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“We understand that the player’s entourage has been warned of this intention. Then, now, [we’ll see] if it’s a provocation… It’s also part of the market game. We’ll see if this is a real intention, even if it seems quite contrary to the philosophy of the new Milan,” he said.
