Sky: Milan embark on US Tour with Fonseca focused on fitness and judging talent

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are flying to the United States of America today to embark on their pre-season tour in which Paulo Fonseca will get a much better look at the players he has available.

As highlighted by Sky Sport Italia, the two main reasons for this tour are to build fitness ahead of the season opener, and for Fonseca to judge the players he has available and help to inform choices in the remainder of the transfer market.

The first game of the season is coming around very quickly, with Milan scheduled to take on Torino on August 17.

Milan have been training intensely at Milanello for a couple of weeks and they can put that work to the test against some quality opponents, as they will be facing Premier League champions Manchester City, LaLiga champions Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Many of the biggest names will not actually be with the squad as they are still on holiday following Euro 2024 and Copa America, whilst Alvaro Morata will join up with his new teammates on August 10.

It is fair to say that Fonseca may have hoped for more new signings to have been secured before the US Tour came along, but Milan are working on multiple deals.
