Sky: Milan will not sign Zirkzee or David – three alternative names remain

The marquee signing of AC Milan’s 2024 summer transfer window will be a new striker, but it will not be Joshua Zirkzee who arrives as things stand at the moment.

According to what is being reported by Sky (via MilanNews), the chances of seeing Zirkzee join have declined quite substantially after the events of the last 48 hours, which started with the emergence that it will require big commissions to land the Dutchman.

Moreover, the fact that Vincent Kompany has officially become the new head coach of Bayern Munich does not help either. The Belgian worked with Zirkzee at Anderlecht where he had his breakout season, and is believed to be keen on reuniting with him, while Bayern have a preferential clause.

Jonathan David’s prices are falling on the striker stock market too. Paulo Fonseca knows him well given they worked together for the last two seasons at Lille, but the incoming coach believes the Canadian is not a suitable profile in terms of his characteristics.

The names that remain on Milan’s list are Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord and Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart. What they have in common is that they are more prolific than Zirkzee, in terms of goals to minutes.
