Sky: Milan’s probable XI for Bologna clash – Pioli eyes ten changes

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Bologna this Saturday and given that the second leg against Napoli is up after that, Stefano Pioli is expected to make some rotation. In fact, the manager could make a whopping ten changes.

Milan did well to beat Napoli 1-0 last night and thus secured themselves an advantage heading into the second leg next week. First, however, they will need to focus on the game against Bologna this weekend.

According to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli could make a whopping ten changes to the starting XI. Starting at the back, the likes of Alessandro Florenzi, Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Fode Ballo-Toure could get the chance.

In the tandem, the youngsters Aster Vranckx and Tommaso Pobega could team up for what would be a rather inexperienced duo. Further up the pitch, Alexis Saelemaekers, Charles De Ketelaere and Ante Rebic could be trusted with creative tasks.

Finally, Divock Origi is tipped to start up front even though he had a really bad game against Empoli. Now is the time to prove us wrong.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Kalulu, Thiaw, Ballo-Toure; Vranckx, Pobega; Saelemaekers, De Ketelaere, Rebic; Origi.

  1. This has to be a joke.
No way he is going to bologna with this lineup.
Might as well forfeit the game and save money traveling and rest the players properly

      1. Honestly that’s a better idea than this Pioli lineup. And we might find some Primavera gems when they get to play against a serie a opponent.

  2. It is an excessively radical turnover and it is very difficult to imagine a victory in those terms… well, let’s see.

  3. If he puts them out there with the main focus to not concede and play on the counter maybe Leao and Co. can play 20 mins at the end and get us the three points

  4. They’ve gone full Career mode 😂😂😂

What’s worse is that I agree. Esp about resting Theo. Bologna is in earshot if a European place, they’re a tough team this season

  5. If we’re going to rotate can we put either kalulu or florenzi on the left and then play thiaw and gabbia in the center? Why even bother with ballo toure. Once per match he creates a chance for the other team, guaranteed.

  6. That probable XI should be more than capable of beating Bologna as long as the players do what they can do and if they don’t that’s on them. Whatever Pioli chooses to do he’s going to get criticized either for rotating or not doing it or not doing it the way a journalist or a fan pleases it. Bologna is on a positive streak but Orsolini will miss the game. Origi and Rebic do give me the shivers if I have to be honest but despite that and on the whole, it has to be done.

  7. Also, consider the fact that Juventus has an appeal hearing coming up later this month and I’m betting that they have their 15 point penalty revoked. That immediately pushes them up to 2nd place and us down to 5th. So things are even more difficult. We have to finish about both Roma and Inter.

  8. tho i agree the team need to be rotated, ten changes just too much. and with those line up there is nobody with flair or creativity. it’s worrying but let’s see…

  9. Yes, finally he started to rotate.

Napoli game is 20 million euros worth,at least. With that money,Milan don’t need Europe next year. Just to sell: Origi, Rebic, Ballo Toure, Caldara and maybe send on loan Adli.

In game with Bologna we will se biggest problem if Milan – very low quality of backup players. They all sux and Milan must find better replacement for stronger team.

  10. This ritation is the right disicion 100 % U r all a bunch of losers who don’t have any idea of football or managing a team.

  11. Our reserves need to show their worth. I feel that CDK might just get his first goal… boys pls grow up to be man in this important match

  12. It’s a good lineup given that our players need enough rest to face napoli in the 2nd leg. We need to give these guy a chance to prove them selves I’m sure the will play well because they will not want to lose. Also give messias a chance. Our top players needs enough rest we have a tough game against Napoli on tuesday

  13. Even Pioli isn’t that dumb. But if the lineup looks anything like that we might as well stay home, rest, and take a 3-0 loss for forfeit. Oh and say goodbye to a top 4 finish and Champions League next season.

  14. This is what happened vs Lecce and resulted in no goals. 20 mins wont be enough to score goals as we have witnessed. They need at least 45 mins

    1. This was supposed to be a reply to someone saying bring in our top players for the last 20 mins. We did that against EMPOLI* last game and resulted in nothing. We need at least 45 mins with our top players in the field to make something out of this game

  15. Are you joking
It’s important that Milan remain in her present position, the teams fighting for the top 4 are all not taking it as a joke so Milan shouldn’t
Start with most of your regulars and kill the game off in first half them withdraw them for the second half
Rest 2, 3 players but not the whole team please, this must be a joke

  16. This is a HEAVY rotation but I believe this is necessary for us to keep our energy for Napoli part 2. We can’t tire our players. Not now. All we need is one goal and a clean sheet.

  17. Yes could be a mistake resting half the team .I agree with what has been said start with the best team ,then rotate and make a few Changes..yes of course it’s good to have one eye on the champions league return match against Napoli..We must however also get a result against Bologna..So it’s not easy being a manager …We are capable of finishing in the top four in the league and I also believe we will knock Napoli out of the champions leauge …
