Sky: Milan’s full strategy for the summer – renewals, five signings targeted and latest on a striker

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of important updates regarding AC Milan’s summer market have arrived from Sky Italia journalist Manuele Baiocchini.

Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews), he took stock of the Milan transfer market which of course will become the main priority after the final game of the season against Atalanta is completed. He began by stating that Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future is still to be resolved and a lot depends on a top four finish, but the club have already got Mike Maignan lined up in the event that Gigio’s renewal does not take place.

Milan also want to sign a deputy to Davide Calabria and a deputy to Theo Hernandez, because Diogo Dalot can play both positions. In recent weeks he has convinced Pioli, Manchester United want €20m for him to leave permanently and Milan intend to spend that amount in another way.

Milan are also looking for a right winger who is left footed; one who can replace Samu Castillejo who could leave. Amine Adli from Toulouse could be the right profile. Then Milan are also looking for a playmaker as Calhanoglu received a very important offer from Qatar today guaranteeing him €32m net for the next three years. He is thinking about it – next week there will be a meeting and he could go to Al Duhail despite interest from many big European clubs.

Milan would like to try to keep Brahim Diaz too, while the last gap in the squad is that of the centre-forward position. If a Champions League return arrives, the club can also spend good money – around €25-30m – on that position, otherwise they could turn to a more experienced free agent. Milan’s idea is to support Ibrahimovic with a boy who can grow a lot when Ibra isn’t there and play a lot, a profile around 22-23-24 years.
