Stefano Pioli could use a 4-3-3 formation with AC Milan after being officially named as the head coach, according to Sky Italia.
Following Marco Giampaolo’s sacking on Tuesday, Pioli was confirmed as the new boss a day later despite protests from Rossoneri supporters.
After his unveiling in front of the media in which he pledged to instil three key principles, the 53-year-old took his first training session at Milanello in the afternoon.
Attention has now turned to predicting what kind of system the former Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina boss would use at Milan, and we projected a 4-3-3 formation.
Sky Italia predicted that one of the ways Milan could line up is in a 4-2-3-1 with Hakan Calhanoglu keeping his place in the team.
However the same outlet has now also reported that it could well be a 4-3-3 that Pioli uses with the Diavolo, a system familiar to him from his time at Inter.
In this system the back four would remain largely unchanged, but Lucas Biglia would function as a regista with Franck Kessie and Lucas Paqueta ahead slightly to his right and left respectively.
The front three would consist of Suso on the right side, Rafael Leao on the left and Krzysztof Piatek as the lone striker.
