Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano has pumped the breaks on the idea that the most crucial aspect of Rafael Leao’s renewal has been resolved.
It was reported by Relevo last night that Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Leao’s entourage over a contract extension that would see the club pay the fine to Sporting and the winger earn €5m net per season.
However, the Portuguese newspaper Record then stated this morning Lille will take on the full payment of the fine owed to Sporting CP after the unilateral termination of the contract on the part of the player in the summer of 2018, which amounts to over €20m.
The Sky Italia journalist Peppe Di Stefano spoke on Radio 24 and he was asked about the news that has arrived in the last few hours from Portugal regarding the fine.
“I’m not so sure that the news coming from Portugal about Leao is so certain. Maybe we’ll try to ask Massara tonight before the match. The Sporting award is the problem with a capital ‘P’ for the renewal of the Portuguese,” he said (via MilanNews).
