Sky: Performances of Leao could change Milan’s plans for the summer window – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

The performances of Rafael Leao between now and the end of the season could change Milan’s plans regarding the potential signing of a striker, a report claims.

According to what Sky Italia are reporting (via MilanNews), if Leao proves to give guarantees as a centre-forward and therefore shows that he can be a valid alternative to Ibrahimovic as a first striker, Milan might not even look for a new reinforcement in attack during the summer transfer window.

However, if the Portuguese does not convince the Milan management, then they will return to the market and among the names being considered is Gianluca Scamacca of Genoa – currently on loan from Sassuolo – who will have an audition of sorts against Milan on Sunday.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had already tried for him in January before deciding to take a gamble by signing free agent Mario Mandzukic, who has struggle with injury since his arrival.

  1. They should buy a natural CF and allow Leao to play from his favourable position forcing him to play as a CF won’t help his growth if they really want him to be the future star they want then they should do the right thing.

  2. Milan should do a loan swap with Fiorentina for Vlahovic with a buy option for Vlahovic and dry loan or buy back clause for Leao. For all of his raw technical talent, he still lacks the physicality and chase for either LW or CF position. Why not get a complete player while letting him develop in and for Serie A at someone else’s detriment? That’s what Juve has done for years.

  3. First of all, Rafael Leao is a left winger and he will stay there. AC. Milan must bring a reliable and good striker who could play better than Ibrahimovic. His name is Belloti from Turin and he would do very well in Milan. Gianluca Scamacca is a good player but not at the level of the team that will play the Champions League, he is very inexperienced and not for AC.Milan

  4. Lazy Leao has no grinta which ruins any high press, is a defensive liability, and doesn’t combine with Theo. I agree that Milan need Belotti, but Leao is a similar profile to Scamacca; talented but not UCL ready. Pioli has started him so many times over Rebic, Hauge, and Mandkuzic, but his development hasn’t improved much. I would like him to improve but others deserve to start.
