Sky: Pioli informed by Milan of desire to part ways – what happens next

AC Milan have finally informed Stefano Pioli of the decision to part ways with him at the end of the season during a meeting with his agents, a report claims.

According to Sky, the ownership will officially communicate the termination of the working relationship with Pioli, who has already been informed of this desire in the meetings that took place at Casa Milan with his representatives in the last few hours.

There is no agreement regarding any severance pay for now meaning that the club will continue to pay him and his staff until the coach finds a new position, with a number of different clubs having been linked.

Pioli will take charge of the Rossoneri for the final time during the game against Salernitana on Saturday, therefore. Whether an official statement will come out before then regarding his fate is unknown, but either way he should get an excellent send-off from the fans.

The report reiterates that the management have chosen Paulo Fonseca to replace Pioli. The former Roma boss said no to the contract renewal proposed by Lille and will do the same with the offer from Marseille, who wanted him even before Milan came in.

It is not an economic choice because the two French clubs offered more money but rather the shared ambition to start a medium-term project with a three-year agreement. In addition to that, planning has already begun for the summer mercato and two signings are likely to be requested.
