Sky: Pioli left to study the solutions as defender may miss Coppa Italia clash vs. Juventus

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli may not be able to call upon Andrea Conti for the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Juventus.

According to what reported by Sky journalist Manuele Baiocchini (via MilanLive), Conti is not doing very well. If he does not improve in the next few days, the full-back could miss the Coppa Italia match against Juventus.

This of course would compound the already existing problem that Theo Hernandez, Samuel Castillejo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are all suspended for the return leg.

Looking at it from a tactical point of view, that would mean Pioli has a couple of options if both of his first choice full-back pairing were to be ruled out of the trip to Turin.

He could play Diego Laxalt at left-back and Davide Calabria at right-back, or if Laxalt were not deemed a suitable option he may insert Leo Duarte at right-back as was seen before his Achilles injury. A more drastic solution could be a three-man defence with Alessio Romagnoli partnered by two out of Matteo Gabbia, Simon Kjaer, Mateo Musacchio or Duarte.
