Sky: Pioli opts for Bakayoko in Milan’s clash vs. Sassuolo – the XI in full

By Isak Möller -

Tiemoue Bakayoko made an appearance off the bench mid-week and he seems he impressed Stefano Pioli, who is considering starting the Frenchman tomorrow as AC Milan will face Sassuolo.

The midfielder, who’s on loan from Chelsea, has improved game by game and his performance against Atletico Madrid was very good. He might have missed a good chance but he was crucial for the balance of the team in the final 20 minutes.

As a result, per Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Pioli has decided to go with Bakayoko and Ismael Bennacer for the midfield tandem tomorrow. This means that Sandro Tonali and Franck Kessie will get some rest after starting mid-week.

There will also be a change in defence, with Alessandro Florenzi taking the place of Pierre Kalulu, while Rafael Leao will be back in the attacking trio. In short, Pioli has opted for some rotation and it makes sense given the tight schedule for the team.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Bakayoko, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic.

  1. I say NO to midfield tandem of Bakayoko and Bennacer . Both seems to have this harsh mode of tackling that will always result in yellow cards. I will prefer a rotation of Kessie-Baka and Tonali-Bennacer.

  2. Kessie needs Baka to improve his offensive part of the game which is dormant because other midfielders don’t have enough physical presence that is precise and firm,
Tonali is improving but a bit overrated and over-hyped,
He would always need the physical presence of either Kessie or Baka to keep thriving!

    1. I agree with you on maignan. I’d say we continue to use Tata who have been impressive as he he is gradually becoming the tatarusanu I knew a long time.

I do not trust this medical team anymore and won’t be surprised if there’s a relapse in the condition of maignan’s wrist
