Sky: Points pace and an added weapon – Milan steal and consolidate second place

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have won six games in a row across all competitions and four of them have come in the league, allowing them to consolidate second place.

As Sky recall, the latest win against Fiorentina on Saturday night at the Stadio Artemio Franchi allowed Milan to pull away from third-placed Juve and fifth-placed Roma, who lost and drew respectively over Easter.

Participation in the next Champions League is no longer in doubt and – in the event of clinching second – a spot in the 2024-25 Supercoppa Italiana would also be secured.

In the league, Milan are maintaining a pace very close to that of the Scudetto season in 2021-22 given that they had 66 points after the 30th round of that season whereas they are on 65 today.

The fact that the Rossoneri are 14 points behind Inter stings for the fans, but Simone Inzaghi’s side are traveling at a record pace in the three-points-per-win era. However, if they won seven of the last eight games, this Milan would obtain more points than the title-winning Milan.

Furthermore, the certainty of having a strong team ready to battle next season provides comfrt, because in addition to the most prominent players those who until now had left us a little perplexed are growing.

For example, the version of Samuel Chukwueze seen in Florence is different from the one at the beginning of the season. He was more present in the match, less isolated and therefore very useful in end-of-season rotations to add speed, strength and quality.

  1. I really like him, he’s had an indifferent season but he is a young man in a new country and league. He will probably not displace Pulisic but he is a player who worries defenders. I think he will kick on next season. A player like Chukwueze can get you out of trouble and get you down the pitch quickly. We know he can finish he just needs consistency
