Sky: Predicted Milan XI to face Lazio – Allegri keeps faith in derby winners

The AC Milan squad will soon travel to the capital ahead of their game against Lazio, and Massimiliano Allegri has made his selection choices.

Milan will go to Rome hoping for a win just like the one in 2021-22 when Sandro Tonali’s last-minute goal secured a huge victory in the Scudetto race. The mission is a fair bit harder with a seven-point gap to overcome, but Inter play Atalanta on Saturday, so dropped points for them could boost hopes.

Predicted Milan XI vs. Lazio

According to Sky Sport, Allegri has chosen to go with the same three-man defence of Fikayo Tomori, Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic ahead of the goalkeeper Mike Maignan, with Matteo Gabbia still not 100% after a recent injury.

The midfield line should feature Alexis Saelemaekers, Youssouf Fofana and Luka Modric again, then Ardon Jashari in for the suspended Adrien Rabiot. The big news is that Pervis Estupinan is tipped to keep his place after his derby heroics.

Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic should once again lead the line for the Rossoneri, leaving the likes of Samuele Ricci, Christopher Nkunku, Davide Bartesaghi, Zachary Athekame, Niclas Füllkrug and perhaps even Santiago Gimenez as impact subs.

Predicted Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Jashari, Estupinan; Leao, Pulisic.

  1. At some point, Leao and Puli will click. We are creating chances but both are on a slump. They are at the end of the day our two most dynamic and dangerous players. Also excited to see if Jashari can fill Rabiot’s boots

  2. Pulisic and leao are going to be flying soon if they start more games together I noticed the improvement in the derby

    1. Did you see what Sheva said?:

“I think he [Leao] and I have different characteristics. He’s made a significant contribution since the start of the season. He’s changed roles, but it’s not suited to his characteristics. However, he’s been very open to the coach’s requests and has had some good matches.

“He’s struggling, but he’s making himself available; he needs to adapt to a role that isn’t his own. It will take time to understand if he’s suited to it. He, like others, is giving his all and performing well.”

From one of the greatest strikers in our history. We need to switch to 4-3-3, or make some hard personnel choices this summer.

  3. Leao is finished. He can’t even control the ball properly most of the times and misses basic simple passes 10 times every game giving ball away .. never takes on his man anymore (one thing he was amazing at)

Pulisic got better as game went on in the derby though .

I think Puli + Nkunku would be the best pairing

    1. Leao played injured for most of the season and also missed many minutes, but still, his 10 seasonal goals (9 in Serie A) are the biggest total among all other Milan players. So, if he’s finished, the others, ALL the others, are MORE finished because Leao has scored more goals than all of them.

The problems you are seeing stem from two issues: injuries, and playing out of position. And despite that, he still scores more than the others. That doesn’t spell finished to me.

  4. Tye prayers of Ahmed and Oliver has been heard, now you’re so happy to See Jashaari as a starter , glad for you 😑

    1. Bring back leao to the left winger like pioli did, he’s not striker. And the rest is history.. trust me !! 😀😀

  5. 3 points here would be huge. In last 9 matches we would enter with mostly at home games, and two direct rivals games @Napoli and home Juventus.

    Forza Milan

  6. Good move. Leao and Puli are not 100% but need time on the pitch to get them back in match condition. Jashari in for Rabiot makes sense and Estupinan has an opportunity to build more momentum while Bartesaghi rests and regains form.

  7. how about this sh** corto muso against strong teams and a 4-3-3 against not so strong teams and put pulisic and leao on the wings where they belong. Just a novel thought I had.
