Sky: Predicted XIs for Lazio vs. Milan – Fofana in line for first start

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca seems to have settled on the starting line-up that he will field against Lazio tomorrow night at the Stadio Olimpico.

Fonseca announced the call-up of the Milan Futuro quartet of Francesco Camarda, Kevin Zeroli, Davide Bartesaghi and Hugo Cuenca, but there are six absences: Alvaro Morata, Marco Sportiello, Alessandro Florenzi, Malick Thiaw, Luka Jovic and Ismael Bennacer.

According to the latest from Sky, Mike Maignan should be in goal with Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Strahinja Pavlovic and Theo Hernandez in the back four.

Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana are down as the midfield double pivot, and it would be a first start for the Frenchman since his arrival from Monaco earlier in the month.

Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao are expected to be the attacking trident behind the centre-forward Noah Okafor.

Lazio boss Marco Baroni should field a 4-2-3-1 with Castellanos up front, Tchaouna and Zaccagni on the wings, Dia behind the striker and a midfield duo of Guendouzi and Rovella. The ex-Milan captain Romagnoli should also start.

Predicted Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Pavlovic, Theo Hernandez; Reijnders, Fofana; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao, Okafor.

Predicted Lazio XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari, Patric, Romagnoli, Tavares; Castrovilli, Rovella, Guendouzi; Isaksen, Castellanos, Zaccagni

    1. To me Acmilan is not yet serious to be champions again. Good players like sancho is going to Chelsea, Chelsea don’t even really need him, Milan could have taken him and play 10 for us.

  1. It’s not really a concern for me, but since last year or so, weren’t we hearing the club speak about creating a ‘Euro Milan’? And that will be a 433.
Stefano tried and stopped that I know, but Fonsy was supposed to be that guy right?
Wasn’t the recruitment tailored so that we play this 433? Cause now we don’t have a pure attacking midfielder if we’re really intent on sticking to the usual 4231.
RLC will be stable, but I think we all realise that a true and proper 10 is needed.
It just seems to be a bit confusing to me, and there’s a bit of a disconnect somewhere.
As long as Fonsy gives us 3 points, I don’t care if we even play Boehly’s favourite 443 lol. But seriously though, I’m not sure where we’re headed, but let’s just win I guess.
    Forza Milan

  2. The biggest problem is we don’t have attacking midfielder , Pulisic is better on the wing and Liberali is to much young for this match… I know Bennacer is not in form but maybe he can be better in Raijnders position and Raijnders on AMC.. for me this is the best solution for now

    1. Nope
See RLC’s Off the ball last game
He is best AMC in the team.
This is why he is coach’s favorite.
Reinders? His strength is work late of the box to box. And poor scoring.

  3. Good lineup, but again players need to step it up, including our attack. Good to see Pavlovic adjusting so quickly. It’s like he has been here for several years. Fofana will also make a great impact I think

    1. Chuku is not good I guess unlees he’s playing against other team’s B-side in pre-season friendlies. He holds the ball for too long and then tries to dribble 2 guys every time. And while I prefer RLC further back, he did score 10 goals for us last season from that spot and I surely wouldn’t describe him as terrible. I wouldn’t mind Liberali getting some time there.

  4. WHERE IS THE GAHDAYUM 4-3-3 BALANCED MIDFIELD COMBO OF BENNACER-FOFANA-REIJNDERS??!!!

Fonseca….you don’t learn your lesson man. RLC is not a 10 and never will be.

  5. If everyone here seems to know what the answer is… go get your coaching badges and apply for the managers position 😂
None of us know what happens in training, or what discussions are made! Loftus scored goals for us last season playing just behind. Shonky start sure… but, just wait it out a bit and trust the ideas Fonseca has

  6. the sooner, fonseca realizes that the midfield trio that gives us the best chance to win is Reindeers, fofana, and Liberali, the farther we will go in the champions league and the more games we will win

  7. Better to put Tijani as AMC. He’s fielded there time to time in his national team. And we all know he has more attacking prowess rather than defensive action.

  8. Calabria and Tomori will be (again) the weakest link, why not try Gabbia instead ? He is the best centre back last season, less mistake and he is Italian too which knows how to defend
Emerson should start too to replace the captain so he can adapt quickly the Italian style of defend

  9. I keep wondering from week to week why liberali didnt given a chance as a no. 10 player, how many match foncesa need to understand that rlc is not the right man on that position?, coz liberali still too raw?, dont make the same mistake like pioli did last season, give liberali a proper minute, if he failed after some match he still can play in milan futuro so nothing to lose for us…

  10. Management sold CDK kept RLC.
While everyone making shrud signing we barely reinforce the team. Management seriously consider getting Sporting directors positions covered, Furlani and Maconda were temp. These last 3 market shows that they are not up for the challenge. Let’s get this mess under control before we become like United under the Glazer.

  11. Hmm 433 do not have a number 10, please stop talking about number 10 Position. We would need a zirkzee for 433 pressing but then we got morata
