Sky: Problems arise over Calhanoglu’s renewal – Juventus and Atletico Madrid interested

By Oliver Fisher -

There is currently a large distance between AC Milan and Hakan Calhanoglu over his contract renewal, according to one journalist.

Speaking to Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Manuele Baiocchini revealed that the Rossoneri will soon sit down with the agents of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Calhanoglu to begin discussing their contract renewals, with their current deals set to expire in June 2021.

Donnarumma grew up at Milan and wants to stay at all costs and the club want to keep him, so there could even be a meeting before the derby with Mino Raiola to try and agree the basis of a renewal.

For Calhanoglu the situation is different though, as he is no longer young (26) and has certain career objectives like playing in the Champions League as a protagonist. There are teams interested in signing him as a free agent like Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, the distance between what Calhanoglu is asking for and what Milan have offered is large and at the moment it is not certain that he will renew. He could even leave in January if a renewal agreement is not reached.
