Sky pundits agree with Pioli’s non-apology: “That question should never be asked”

Stefano Pioli’s decision not to apologise to the AC Milan fans after the 5-1 defeat against Inter has been defender by pundits on Sky.

Milan lost the Milan derby against Inter in a resounding and clear manner once again, but this time the scoreline went beyond a comfortable win as they were beaten 5-1 for the heaviest derby defeat in decades.

PianetaMilan recall that at the end of the match, Pioli was asked by a Rai Sport reporter if he felt it would be appropriate to apologise to the Milan supporters for what was a shambolic display, and he said no.

During last night’s Sky Calcio Club, all the participants in the discussion on the situation took Pioli’s side, from Fabio Caressa – host of the broadcast – to Giuseppe Bergomi, as well as Luca Marchegiani and Giancarlo Marocchi.

Marchegiani: “Pioli says that he doesn’t have to apologise to anyone and he’s right because no one has to apologise, but if you lose the fifth derby you can’t make responses like this.”

Caressa: “I agree that no one has to apologise, because when a professional player commits and gives his best he doesn’t have to apologise to anyone.

“We hate all those scenes under the Cruva that we see every now and then. But it is also true that perhaps one more sentence perhaps to the fan who lost the fifth consecutive derby, the fifth derby in a calendar year…”

Marocchi: “I also agree, there’s no point in apologising or even going under the radar to be told everything, etc. But against Inter you have to play it differently, you have to be sure not to lose the fifth derby.”

Marchegiani: “In my opinion, Pioli’s answer was not aimed at the fans, it was aimed at those asking the question.”

Bergomi: “That question should never be asked.”

Caressa: “I agree. Because in that case he is the leader, if he says yes then it seems that he is attacking the team and therefore he can only respond in that way even a little piqued because he has to defend the group.”

Marchegiani: “Apologise if there is fraud, if he didn’t commit, not if they lose. I don’t think Milan are happy about losing.”
