Sky: ‘The right profile’ – Milan decide who will join Morata and Jovic

By Ben Dixon -

Before the mercato’s opening, AC Milan pondered the choice to add two strikers to their attacking line this summer, and they have decided who the third player will be.

During the past week, Alvaro Morata’s negotiations have been finalised, and reports from the weekend have stated that he will be a Milan player following his medical with the finances of the deal already agreed.

However, he will not be the only front-line addition this summer, and this was a decision made several months ago.

When Joshua Zirkzee was still the leading favourite, and the Rossoneri were deciding on Olivier Giroud’s future, the idea of a three-striker department was favoured, given the Frenchman was offered a deal with heavily reduced minutes. Now Giroud has left, and Zirkzee is a Manchester United player, but the idea remains intact.

With Morata joining the club, he will be the primary prong of a three-striker trident, and Luka Jovic is the second part, and it seems the Diavolo have decided who the final part of the puzzle is.

Recently, Tammy Abraham and Jhon Duran have been named as potential targets, but it seems that Niclas Fullkrug is the player chosen. As Sky reports, Geoffrey Moncada and the rest of the management see the German as the ‘right profile to reinforce the attack’, and there have been positive contacts so far.

Whilst Abraham and Duran still feature on the list, the favoured option is the German, and contacts are set to be made this week.

  1. Fullkrug gives me Bierhoff vibes. Though Jhon Duran is a very interesting talent. He had several close chances against Argentina and needs to work on his finishing though.

    1. Off of one game is how u make judgments and analysis of players. And the wrong player at that. Really interesting

  2. Since we got Morata who is an older striker, it will make more sense to go for a younger striker with more room to grow as next target rather than another old striker.

    1. ACM management are totally confused and have no idea for the future!
Moncada please explain how old these two strikers are and tell us all what plan you have for the future?
What a farce this project is turning out to be.
Where is Mr Costacurta can he please explain the unexplainable ?

      1. The management are on right Track sincerely. We need achievement ,results not upcoming stars. The two strikers will make Teams scared of Ac milan. We have FA Cup,Champions league and League. Experience count alot sirs

        1. “The two strikers will make Teams scared of Ac milan” LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes they’re shaking in their boots right now at the thought of Fulkrug

      2. Moncada won’t be here to explain but everyone here knows this young lad called Camarda. He’s supposed to be the next Marco van Basten for us but it’ll take a few more years. If you don’t know who MvB is, try googling. Don’t ask Moncada to explain that too as he probably don’t have time for it.

  3. Fullkrug is a nice addition but he is 31… same as Morata. Currently 3rd striker should not be a priority, we have Jovic and Okafor, and those at Milan Futuro, as back up for Morata.

Better to focus on Fofana and Pahlovic first. If there’s opportunity after those two, then we can proceed further.

Or even add Dani Olmo for 60m… can play across front three behind striker in 4-2-3-1, great creativity, game changer, and coming into his peak at 26.

  4. That’s just dumb. You do not need an extra striker to sit on the bench if you play with one upfront.

There is jovic and there is a LW Okafor, who can cover ST position when needed.

Buying 3rd striker is a waste of resources and a waste of player’s talent.

    1. Neither play well as a single 9. Have you not watched much of last season? That’s why Fonseca asks for established, strong 9’s.

  5. Fullkrug is a beast in the box. Hes perfect to come on in the 65-70th minute together with Jovic when Milan are pushing forward for an equalizer, or a winning goal.

Have Morata run the defenders to exhaustion, then throw in Jovic and Fullkrug for Morata and Loftus-Cheek in the second half. That will earn us alot of important late game goals.

Will also make us alot less vulnerable against injuries in the attacking department.

  6. Fullkrug AND Morata doesn’t make sense to me.

Choosing one of them would make sense, to replace Giroud with experienced (yet not that old) striker, but why contract two 31+ strikers, and give them likely 3-4 year deals? While still having Jovic who also scored some goals and is 27-yrls old. And if they have no faith at all in Jovic then why extending his deal?

While I like the idea of signing Morata, this all doesn’t make much sense to me. Milan will end up with 3 average strikers with long deals. Selling any of them next year would be problematic (see Origi who is still on payroll).

    1. The problem with Origi, compared to the 3 “average strikers,” is that Origi isn’t average but an awful striker. If he was average, someone would have wanted to sign him even on a free transfer.
Jovic was extended for only 1 year.
Why would you need to sell any of them next season for the sale to be problematic?
Why are you planning a sale before any of them is signed?
So what if both morata and Fulkrug are 31? Up until 12 months ago Milan had a 41 year old and 37 year old strikers, but now 31 is a problem?

      1. Origi is terrible now, when he was joining he was also average – I don’t want to remind he was coming from Liverpool after their golden run.

The same way Fullkrug was his whole career average, and he only have good recent 2 years. Story with Origin can easily repeat here.

        1. Please don’t use Füllkrug and Origi in the same sentence unless the sentence is “FFS, one can’t even start to compare Origi & Füllkrug as everyone knows Origi couldn’t hack it in the 6th division of Albania”.

  7. Will only make sense if we get rid of Jovic. I like the profile of Fullkrug (even compared with Morata) but there’s no use on having 30s strikers when we have younger strikers around. Better use the money on the other post.

    1. Experienced strikers who can play the lone 9 role – that’s what Fonseca has been asking for. That’s why they gave up on Zee right away.

  8. Well, like I always say this management are clueless and lack vision and experience in building instant and future winning team.
@Ronaldinho i agree with and most of other.

I would have prefer Fullkrug to Morata since they’re both same age and Fullkurg is more physical and can be a huge treath to defenders with his strength and aireal duels than morata who prefer to fall easily and want to be protected by ref.

I feel both can only guarantee almost same amount of goals. Picking Fullfurg with Jovic , Okafor and insert anyone of the Futuro strikers will be more ideal and us ethe fund to fix other important position cover salary

  9. The management are on right Track sincerely. We need achievement ,results not upcoming stars. The two strikers will make Teams scared of Ac milan. We have FA Cup,Champions league and League. Experience count alot sirs

  10. As much as I don’t see the need for a 3rd striker given that Okafor can cover for us, I don’t mind adding Fullkrug to the mix…if we can get him why not. He bring real poacher instincts and experience to the table.

    1. Same type of player? Füllkrug dominates the air space and scores all types of goals. Jovic? He can only score from lose balls next to the penalty spot. Also, Jovic cannot handle being the lone striker – unlike the German. Füllkrug is a team player with a superb attitude. Jovic goes around slapping people and getting silly red cards.

Plenty of differences and I just scratched the surface.

      1. We can’t compare Jovic, who has a great sense to score with Füllkrug. Filippo Inzaghi used to be the master of goal senses,, while Jovic is trying to achieve the role now. The point in this story is that the new ACM manager would try to play offending tactics (probably sometimes with 3 strikers) and there will be good rotation choices. To play such an offensive football ACM need to focus to obtain strong CB/LB/LWB who will bring a lots of power on the left side, beside Theo, Rafa…. and that is Pavlovic.
