Sky: Ternana plotting loan move for young Milan defender

Serie B side Ternana are interested in securing a loan move for young AC Milan defender Marco Pellegrino in January, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News), Ternana want to use Pellegrino to bolster their defence and they think Milan will be open to letting the Argentine leave on loan.

Milan are in a very unusual position when it comes to this deal because they have no real use for Pellegrino right now, but are also trying to add defenders to the club.

He has gotten almost nowhere near the first team under Stefano Pioli so far, but that is largely due to an ankle injury that has kept him out of action for a long time.

His most meaningful first-team involvement was 68 minutes in a Serie A match against Napoli.

Ternana have a defender who is leaving for Palermo this month so they need a replacement. Sitting 16th in Serie B, they are at risk of being dragged into a relegation battle.

It seems Milan would be willing to let Pellegrino leave on loan, but they may want a new defender to arrive just to ensure there is enough depth when the other injuries are factored in to players like Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu.
