Sky: The two signings Fonseca will request if he joins Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are moving towards being able to appoint Paulo Fonseca as the next head coach and there are a couple of signings that he seems likely to ask for, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by Sky, Fonseca is the chosen one to become the new coach of Milan. The Portuguese has a meeting scheduled today with Marseille, who wanted him before the Rossoneri, but a return to Italy is at the forefront of his mind.

His intention is either to take a bit of time until he can sign with Milan or even immediately reject the offers both from Marseille and Lille, who want to extend his contract despite the fact they missed out on direct Champions League qualification in the very last minutes of the season and must instead go through qualifiers.

The former Roma boss is convinced by Milan’s long-term project (it would be a three-year contract) because it offers the guarantees of having a competitive team combined with the possibility of returning to Serie A.

He could make two requests in terms of signings as per the source: a right-back and a striker. We exclusively reported that Tiago Santos of Lille is someone that the directors like and he could fill the former role, while Jonathan David continues to be heavily linked after a red hot start to 2024.

  1. were so cooked if this fraud joins our club.. of all the free managers out there you go ahead and litterly pick THE WORST option and thats not even exaggerating it is THE WORST choice this club could make how could ibra genuinly allow someone like this to take over with all the power he has now… Juve is signing motta for only 3.5M a season thats less then what we payed pioli so its clearly not about money. I think Cardinale getting Fonseca is a threat to the milan fans after we made them stop with Lopetegui. Kinda like a f u right in the face. We as fans need to bully this fraud out of the club the moment he gets a chance to sign that contract.

    1. Seriously, I don’t understand how our directors think.
That’s why I don’t see us winning anything next season either.
Don’t be suprised if we lose our best players this summer also (especially Theo and Maignan).
There are so many top coaches available and we are going for Fonseca?
      SMH

    2. Juve signing motta already done deal by fabrizio romano . 3 years contract with salary 5m euro nett not 3,5m euro nett also juve promise bring his player in bologna like calafiori & zirkzee

    3. You can imagine his team Lille even failed to qualify automatically to Champion league next season….. Gultier than went to Psg before been sacked there as well lifted the championship with Lille before Fonseca took over and ended up fourth in the league, this Milan Management like Mediocre too much.

  2. Frankly mark van bommel would be cheaper and no better also both french teams In the mix offering more money.

Also all this INTER MILAN crap hope they go out of business hope they suffer blah blah blah PATHETIC COWARDLY AND SORT SIGHTED is this really where MIGHTY AC MILAN are and wishing another club goes under being the only way that they can compete?

All ill say is CAREFULL WHAT YOU WISH FOR also what’s the difference between sunning owing oak Tree and Redbird owing Elliott by the way to the tune of over half a billion which would explain once again Ac milan doing things on the cheap .
I really hope I’m wrong on this but next season could go a lot worse than this one then what Gerry /Elliott fan boys?

    1. Um, no one said Inter going under is the only way we can compete. That’s all in your head. It’s about a criminal enterprise getting what it deserves, which I would’ve thought most people would be for but obviously not.

  3. So at best we will finish in the top four with Mr Fonseca…..
After the humiliations by Inter and the need for the second star then Mr Cardinale should be showing real ambition for a club of this prestige.

    1. He doesn’t care about any of that…this is a project for him to sell on probably with a stadium attached. I believe the next ownership will be tue one that returns us to the top. They seem desperate to sell Theo unless of course it’s just media like this forum desperate for odd season click bait. However I do believe they only want a manager who will stay quiet when Theo is sold, when Mike is sold and when Leao is sold. Why would you sign Conte or De Zerbi knowing they want best in class…as for Zidane I mean please. I mean given the Curva protests over the last few weeks, if he then send Theo out the door….it’s just more fuel on the fire for those of us who have sussed this out.

  4. The ONLY reason Leao isn’t being spoken about like Theo is because he’s had an on off season and his stock is low.

Remember that feeling when it turned from ‘this is just media click bait’ to Tonali actually going out the door…..get used to it..it’s coming again

  5. Even his targets are mediocre lol. But hey, at least they’re all from Ligue 1. The fetish from this current regime.

    1. That’s because that’s the cheapest talent pool to pick from…of all the top leagues the French league is the cheapest…that’s why they do it. It’s not difficult to suss out, these people are bankers, just go on red birds website and read their mission statement..

They won’t go shopping in the prem, or Italy or Spain because the players demand a premium. We will never sign The likes of Scalvini, Buongiorno, Calafiori, Carneschi, Koopmeiners…..forget those names it’s unheard of’s all the way

  6. I just can’t wrap my mind around Fonseca. He doesn’t seem to make sense under any parameters. Let’s hope for a different official ACMilan communication.

    1. Well it makes sense on the premise that he will not complain when Theo, Mike and Rafa are sold. It’s a bit like an ugly dude dating a model on the premise that he doesn’t kick off when she shags around 😂 you get to punch around, walk around with Milan on your cv without ever really deserving it…

Of course none of this may be true, but given last summer I’d wager it’s more likely than less likely

    2. He does make sense in the terms of a coach “who will share his ideas with the management” like they put it. Fonseca won’t probably complain a lot if one of our big stars is sold or if we don’t go for very good players, which will allow the management to sell for profits and get many players for cheap prices. I guess his salary won’t be as high as some of the others managers whose names were thrown here and there.
Now I hope all of these were rumors (though the Lopetegui case doesn’t seem like one), but if the management indeed goes for Fonseca and decide to sell Theo, I think we can conclude they’re not as ambitious from a sport point of view as we thought/hoped they are.

  7. PETITION IN PLACE:

There’s a petition on change.org against hiring Fonseca. It only needs 400 more signatures.

Search for “Salvo pressioni ambientali” on change.org

I tried to post a link but it doesn’t work.

  8. Contract for 3 years, gone in 3 months. He’d be our worst coach in decades, with the possible exception of Giampaolo or Terim.

  9. Always surprised how people simply dnt understand how the world, and how the US works. We have an American owner. A capitalist, a lier, and an opportunist. He says he enjoys wants to win, because he has to be diplomatic and political. His main aim, is profit. Even the Arab owners show more passion towards the club and the sport in general. He will operate with the least funds he can, as he did last year, with 20 million euro signings. So his turnovers are high and sure the next year. This year will be the same, if not less, unless like last year we sell a star(or two). I am not a fan of blindly overspending, and its always the operate with healthy finances and a plan, but all i know is that we can so better, AC Milan is better than this. While we have American owners, then we will operate in the American way.

  10. Ja sam mislio da je dobio poziciju za trenirat ŽENSKI klub Milana !! Kad ono stvarno misle na A tim !! KATASTROFA
