‘I’m thinking of Sesko’ – Sky journalist gives update on Fonseca and Milan’s striker chase

By Oliver Fisher -

Another update has arrived from Sky regarding AC Milan’s plans for the future, including when Paulo Fonseca’s arrival should be made official and the pursuit of a striker,

It has been quite a tiring last couple of months, at least with regards to the sheer amount of speculation about Stefano Pioli’s position as the head coach and who his successor might be, all while the team struggled on the field.

However, it seems the management are now set on Fonseca after an extensive evaluation process, and they will look to confirm him as the next coach shortly. Then, attentions will turn to giving him a squad that is capable of challenging Inter for the league title.

Speaking live on Sky, Alessandro Sugoni gave a couple of updates on Milan during what is a bit of a quieter period after the trip to Australia concluded, and his comments were transcribed by Radio Rossonera.

“We are in the countdown [for Fonseca], all that’s missing is the signature. He could be made official in the week ahead, then the construction of the team will really begin,” he said.

“Even if Jovic remains, Milan will need a number 9. The names doing the rounds are those that are of interest to the club, but they have very different costs and situations.

“I’m thinking of Sesko, who costs a lot, but I’m also thinking of Guirassy who has a 17 million euro clause. We are not ruling out other names, but in any case Milan will definitely sign a striker.”

    1. Well the start is Zirkzee. The question is from Zirkzee to who? 😂

Sesko. Gyokeres. David. Gimenez. Pavlidis. Guirassy. If any of the names mentioned recently really come ill be satisfied, time to move to other position.

Some addition like Depay on free, perhaps?

      1. You guys have high optimism lol 😂. I’m thinking they’ll get along the lines of Schick, Iglesias, Haller, Moreno. Even Moratta isn’t out of the question. 😁

    2. They literally spent all the previous summer to chase Taremi, and when he’s ready to be signed for free, they went cold.

        1. he signed with the merde already. and last summer it was his agents who asked for 10M or so if im not mistaken. His mistake was not firing them on the spot

        2. Dude, Inter literally had him signed from the last winter. Yes, only several months difference from our attempt in signing him for about 15-20 mil.

  1. Ridiculous that announcement of new coach take so long. This management isn’t really suitable. The very next day after Poli is gone, new coach needs to be lined up and take on the job immediately

  2. Sesko with 70m euro release clause are high risk investment. ACM have badluck purchase player expensive 30m euro ++ above ( start from banter era berlusconi in 2013) . Guirassy close to dortmund . Zirkzee agent asking 15m euro signing fee , no chance ACM will pay that . Maybe they will search another name striker outside from media hype

  3. Milan have so much to spend and honestly minimal needs outside of CF… Okay a proper CDM would be nice, but a swap can and should happen. Replacement for Calabria? Probably not happening and Calabria still has quality.. at CB between Tomori, Thiaw, Gabbia, Kalulu, Simic there is still lots of quality. With €80-100m+ to spend on a striker they should go get whoever they want, best available striker, no excuses.

  4. For me Artem Dovbyk of Girona or Alexander Sorloth of Villarreal would be ideal for Milan. I wouldn’t rule out Jonathan David either. He has 24 goals last season and 19 goals this season in ligue 1 under Fonseca.

All the other options are not within Milan budget. Sesko or Zirkzee won’t arrive.
