SM: Moncada at work with Ballo-Toure stuck between two clubs – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have found themselves in a tricky position regarding the future of Fode Ballo-Toure with two clubs showing interest above all.

As reported by our colleague at SempreMilan.it Luca Maninetti, it is Fulham and Bologna who are the two most concretely interested teams when it comes to the Senegalese full-back, but they are polar opposite stages.

Fulham have an agreement with Milan over transfer fee but they are yet to strike a deal with the player on personal terms, while Bologna have an agreement with the player, but not with the Rossoneri.

The Serie A club are looking for a loan deal while Milan want to sell permanently for a few million, and there is the added complication that Ballo-Toure wants to remain in Italy.

Chief scout Geoffrey Moncada stayed in Italy and did not go on the preseason tour of the United States, as did the defender too, so he is working to find a solution.

  1. If he doesn’t want to go to a club on a permanent transfer, then might as well keep him for another season as Theo’s back-up.
Loan doesn’t help Milan in any way, especially when it was reported that Bologna will want Milan to pay part of his salary.
Also, the LBs that Milan is reportedly connected to replace Ballo are nothing better than him.

  2. Loan with obligation to buy is a good compromise. Split the payments if necessary. Ballo-Toure is clearly not good enough.

With Messias and Rebic linked with exits for 5-6 million each, and Ballo Toure going, we can reinvest in one or two better players. And I disagree with the other, there are many better LBs we’ve been linked with compared to Ballo-Toure.

    1. It is not how the things are working.
Fee that Milan possible could get for Messias and Rebic must be deducted from rest of ammortisation. And that’s the fee that will be shown as gain or loss in books.
