There is a chance that Samuel Chukwueze could get his first start for AC Milan in the biggest game of all: the Derby della Madonnina that comes after the international break.
Christian Pulisic has started all three league games on the right wing so far due to the fact he joined earlier in the summer and has thus had more time to learn Stefano Pioli’s instructions and get to 100% condition.
He has rewarded the head coach for his trust by scoring twice already, meaning that he is considered by many to be undroppable at the moment, while Chukwueze – who arrived in a deal worth €28m – has been coming off the bench.
However, our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report that Chukwueze could already have a big chance to show what he can do as a starter in the derby against Inter on September 17.
The former Villarreal winger will leave to represent the Nigerian national team but he will also be the first to return to Milanello given that, unlike his team-mates, he will only play one match on September 10 against São Tomé e Príncipe
He could therefore be the chosen one to play on the right wing in the derby, especially given that Pulisic – as well as Yunus Musah too – will be the last to return from representing the United States.
Given the utter meaningless nature of this match against a lowly Oman side, Pulisic and Musah should just come back home after the first match.
There’s no reason on earth that he should stick around for this second match.
I mean, one is the national team captain and one will want to cement his position as first choice before the next World Cup, there’s every reason to take it seriously. I’m sure they’ll be back and probably on the bench for the Inter game.
he doesnt need to do anything, he is cemented. as much so as pulisic.
Chukwueze needs to be played – he was the most expensive signing of the mercato, he’s starting a career at a huge club in a new country, and he needs to gain confidence as soon as possible. But ideally, his first start would have been in a slightly less pressured environment than the derby….
We just have played Three Games and PULISIC was excellent. Chuk will get his Starts now, when CL begins and we play every three days. Same for Okafor and Musah
You are correct.
USA is playing Oman, that’s a joke. Bum Berhalter can play the young guys looking to make a name for themselves. Hopefully Pulisic comes back a little early
Why does Serie A schedule their biggest match so early in the season and after an international break? Makes no sense.
Arsenal vs Manchester United is one of EPL biggest fixture though and it was scheduled early.
I don’t see any problem here.
If the idea is that Pulisic will return in time but be too tired, guess Pioli wants to start looking like Chelsea: ruin any chemistry a team has and stupidly upset all momentum by constantly throwing new players into the mix. And we see what that has done for Chelsea — a team that is self-destructing like no other. It would also show players if they play well they WON’T be rewarded, leading to tentativeness, lack of trust and uncertainty on the part of the players. Yep, Chelsea again.
🤣🤣 man what’s the problem with you and Pioli? Is there now any wrong with starting Chukwueze 😕?
This is serious
Yea I doubt that…… Pioli likes his starters and Puli isn’t 35. He’s got the energy for one if the biggest games of the season.
Yes chukwueze should start against intermilan but Pioli you can still get it right with the 4-2-3-1 at least make room for pulisic or musah with chukwueze then Colombo for second half on right wing.the only we need is just deep pressing to make the team weak then with offensive attack from both right and left wing with deep pass of the attacking midfield.it will walk Stefano Pioli just try it. It will walk well
I doubt you have been with us.
Colo what?
just ignore this guy, that’s better.
He don’t even know all the player we have and who already left the team and everytime he comment will be about 4 2 3 1, then who he want to play there, then bam – he leave the chat just like that. He won’t read any reply and will just spouting same nonsense the next time he comment again.
Pulisic off the bench in this game might actually work out well from strategy point view as well. He’s been explosive, and bringing him on with 25-30 min to play could provide the spark to find an equalizer if we’re behind or the winner if we’re level.
From all the new players introduced to these recent matches, Chuk was probably the one who gave the least impact, still looks so stiff and confused on the field. To play him as starter on one of the most important matches would be a huge gamble. Just introduce him slowly until he gets that rhythm back.
Let’s give these players time. Chuks was a more regular player at V/real than Pulisic was at Chelsea. Don’t forget that Chuks was alone at Milanello when others went for preseason …. Chuks is the winger we missed all these years
That’s exactly on my last sentence.
