SM Exclusive: Journalist confirms Milan have agreed deal with defender – details, stance of club and player’s strengths

A report from journalist Ekrem Konur on Twitter yesterday claimed that Milan have reached an agreement with Mohamed Simakan over personal terms.

He added that Rossoneri’s offer to Strasbourg is €10million, but the Ligue 1 club are asking for €15m to sell their prized 20-year-old asset. He is of course a player that was repeatedly linked with a move to Milan throughout the summer window, when his agent confirmed to us that a five-year deal had been agreed.

We spoke to Ekrem Konur directly to get an update on the state of affairs.

You have reported that Milan have agreed personal terms with Simakan, could you give any more info? Such as length of contract, salary, when it was agreed?

“I do not have a clear figure about the salary, but it is said that it is around 1-1.5 million euros. Agreement on a 5-year contract.”

Do you think that Milan will be able to agree a fee with Strasbourg, and what are their demands?

“Obviously, there is not much difference. Transfers always have a bargain margin. I think Milan will pay whatever money they want.”

Simakan has made big strides over the last 12 months, does he feel ready for the next step?

“Yes, he trusts himself. That’s why he wants to show himself in a bigger team.”

Would Strasbourg stand in his way if he wanted to leave?

“Of course, he’s a bright future at 20 years old. Their financial expectations are high. They definitely won’t let him leave for free.”

What kind of a player is Simakan? What are his strengths, and who could he be compared to?

“His strengths are:

– His effectiveness in the air
– His speed
– Aggressiveness, courage and diligence.”

Would he adapt well to Serie A?

“At the beginning of his career, the Italian league is a very tough league. He will improve himself more in Italy. Like every young player, he has shortcomings. He will make up for them with time.”
