For the latest edition of our series Meeting the Milan Media, which is published on Substack, we sat down with Radio Rossonera director Simone Cristao. Among other things, he discussed the renewal negotiations with Theo Hernandez.
The renewal of Hernandez has certainly been a hot topic among the Milan fans in recent months. Since the start of the season, really, the Frenchman has been unable to reach his usual highs and there is still no agreement in place for a new contract.
The current deal will expire in 2026 and after several weeks of many rumours, his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon had a meeting at Casa Milan and spoke to the media afterwards. And as such, it seems that a renewal could take place after all.
In our interview with Simone Cristao, we asked about the situation of Hernandez and what he thinks will happen. The full interview will be published on Monday, so make sure to subscribe to our Substack to get it straight to your inbox when it drops!
How do you evaluate the meeting that took place yesterday between Theo Hernandez’s agent and Milan’s management? Do you think it was a step forward or a step back?
“I take it as a positive thing that they started talking again. Theo’s agent is very special because he’s an old-school agent. To be clear, he’s not a media person, he doesn’t even have WhatsApp, and when he wants something he always moves in person.
“He also manages Theo at 360 degrees, not only when it comes to transfers. In any case, the discussions with Theo must be resolved within a couple of months also because they are reflecting on the player’s performances. So if Milan really want to renew the contract, they must move soon.
“On the other hand, I can confirm that Theo wants to stay, partly because he likes the city and Milan, partly because the family is happy here and he has a second child on the way. He is happy here,” he stated.
Yes he want stay for big salary and poor playing
You right pippo. Big salary, crap playing, captain armband.
Oga, rest nah
No he doesn’t. If he wanted to stay he could agree to one of the contracts that’s been offered to him by Milan.
The contracts are undervaluing him based on his current performances. He’s waiting for his form to improve, then he will get a better deal. Then he will renew
“Under valuing him based on his current performances” ? 😀 yeah right you haven’t watched a milan match this season has you.
I generally likes Theo a lot but he hasn’t even been worth the salary he earns this season.
Foguinho is agreeing with you. He said that Theo is playing poorly, therefore the contracts offered to him are undervaluing the previous high value he had.
My bad, must have initially misread his comment.
“The contracts are undervaluing him based on his current performances.”
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Wow. So… How much should a worse-than-average LB earn these days? 8M€? 9M€? 😀 😀 😀
True – theo is not playing so well these days but then all players pass through a bad patch or patches …. so we should wait until this period is over.
Why should we sell theo because of his (apparent) brush with fonseca when everybody on this planet knows that fonseca is a sitting duck, a dead man walking waiting to be kicked out as soon as ibra, furlani and moncada swallow their pride and admit they made a huge fukc-up when they got fonseca because he is not so very expensive!!!!!!!
Theo should lave. He is not valued at Milan.
Maybe when he leaves and time. Vindicates him, as it has every other brain dead, deforming decisions at Milan, maybe then the clueless fans calling for his head would. Learn.
A player that has been class for Milan for years, and proven himself consistently and constantly gets a drop of form this season and is vilified.
Sometimes the fans are as much a problem as the management 🤦♂️🤦♂️
